Bodies on Netflix

First episode here also, and I agree - it's intriguing.

cars with their headlamps on during a Blitz bombing raid

Well, they did have some sort of headlight louvres in the show, but an actual photo from here: London during the Blitz shows much more light-limiting attachments:

I finished The Fall of the House of Usher on Netflix. This was so good. It intertwined several of Poe's stories and did a great job of it. Highly recommended.
Thanks for the rec - four episodes in and agree completely, really well done show, with some excellent jump scares (and it takes a bit to get to me)!

We watched the first three episodes of The Fall of the House of Usher last night. It’s watchable enough, has some nice Easter eggs, but I honestly think I’ve had enough and may not continue. It’s way over the top, and while there are some clever bits of dialogue, I thought a lot of it was trite and cliched and not at all subtle. I found the horror to be more shock value than atmospherically creepy. Not my kind of horror, I guess.

Halfway through Bodies here, and it feels like its stalled a little. Started promisingly, now I don't seem that fussed. As is the way of Netflix, though, this is typical mid-series slump and it'll probably pick up again before the end - if I can be bothered to stick with it.

I also finished The Fall of the House of Usher and thought it was pretty great! It’s a limited series, and the story is concluded in one season. Don’t see any potential for a spin off as the ending is very final. It gives lots of Poe lore and references while being a thoroughly modern adaptation. I think it’s worth the watch!

I finished the second season of Foundation on AppleTV+. I thought the first season was just ok, but this one is much better. It's been well over 40 years since I read the books, so I don't remember a lot of the plot. It has given me the desire to go back and at least reread the original trilogy.

The only thing the series has from the books is Hari Seldon and his psychohistorical analysis - although I haven't seen Season 2 yet, admittedly.

I am so looking forward to For All Mankind, though I did feel a little concerned that it may have jumped the shark a little in the last part of the last season. We will see! I am waiting until a few more episodes are there, though, as I have a feeling I will bingewatch once there.

It's not as if I don't have plenty to watch. I am spending the month watching Doctor Who episodes on the BBC iPlayer, as they have put up over 600 episodes in readiness for the 60th anniversary next week.

Currently watching First and Second season episodes (The William Hartnell episodes.) Lots of black and white!

I agree on For All Mankind. I hate that they are slow rolling it out one episode a week. I am going to wait until at least half of them are out.

I watched Daisy Jones and The Six over the weekend. I hadn't read the book because the interview format didn't appeal to me. I grew up in the 70's, and I love the 70's music. So, I may be a little biased because of that, but I thought this was amazing. Highly recommended.

Enjoyed the first episode of Monarch a great deal - better than the recent US movies, anyway. Second episode a little slower, but OK. A little worried about streaming bloat creeping in, though.

Watching a new series, "Lawmen: Bass Reeves" on Paramount. A Taylor Sheridan production starring David Oyelowo as Bass Reeves. The first Black U.S. Deputy Marshal for the territory west of the Mississippi River. From being a slave to serving in the Confederacy as an aide to his Master, then escaping and eventually coming back to the plantation to get his wife after the civil war.

Bass tries farming, but ends up in as posse rider for a Deputy Marshal. Eventually ending up as a Deputy Marshal himself. Great supporting cast with Dennis Quaid, Donald Sutherland & Barry Pepper.

Watched two episodes of "It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia."
Watched season I, Ep. 1. Then, because reviews said that it improved with the Season 2 addition of Danny Devito, watched, II, 1.
Well Devito is actually funny with his manic character, however something that seems to revolve around narcissists enjoying hurting each other did not appeal. Doubt that we'll go back.

My spouse and I have used an episode or two of series with appealing characters, preferably humorous, for unwinding at the very end of the day. We got through MASH!, CHEERS!, The Big Bang Theory and (would you believe) Bones that way. There are several others that we have tried, notably Northern Exposure. (We like it, but our set of DVDs is less than perfect.) Right now also looking at Seaside Hotel (PBS Passport)
We certainly enjoy other styles, but they are for earlier in the evening.

Suggestions?

THE SANDMAN ( NETFLIX UK )

Enjoyed this and preferred the first few episodes as they were the most " gothic " . Pleased to see there are more episodes coming

A decade since I read the books so don't know how faithful it is .
