Have you read them back-to-back, Atramentous?
They are quite intense!
M.
A very early look at something I’m working on.
I’m keeping the title, characters and bigger story completely under wraps for now, but the premise is dark adult fantasy built around an elite brotherhood raised from childhood to hunt witches and other supernatural creatures across a huge continent.
The closest tonal comparisons are probably The Witcher, Van Helsing, Dracula, Underworld and a darker HBO-style fantasy.
Think black forests, frozen mountain roads, horses, remote villages, fortified estates, taverns, old covens, strange regional beliefs and different cultures as the story moves further across the continent.
The witches aren’t human women who learned magic. They’re an entirely separate species — ancient, intelligent, physically dangerous and capable of passing among people far more convincingly than they should be able to.
The horror is the part I’m enjoying most.
Not just creatures attacking in the dark.
A family finding an extra chair at breakfast every morning.
Children in different houses drawing the same woman.
A settlement left untouched, fires still burning, food still warm — but everyone gone.
So, roughly:
The Witcher × Van Helsing × Dracula × Underworld but with a much heavier focus on brotherhood, travelling, atmosphere, horror and a large six-book world.
Still writing it.
That’s all I’m giving away for now.
