I have recently gotten a kitten, she's fully black and tiny, the runt of the litter. I want to give her a name from a book, doesn't necessarily have to be an animal in a book.. just a good name for a female kitten. The book doesn't have to be fantasy either. xD

Names I like so far..
Nyx - Greek Goddess of the Night
Ludo - The monster thing from Labyrinth

I like unusual names if you catch my drift.. :)
They could even be names of authors or poets.. I would love to call her Byron but she's a girl so..

I LOVE naming kittens.

Here are my personal top picks for if I got another female cat:

Karma (“Good Karma!” or “Bad Karma!”)
Callisto ("Calli")
Freya
Mithril
Pandora
Shiva
Valhalla (“Val”)
Zelda

I have a one year old cat called Nyx - named for similar reasons as given above.

Be warned - she quickly became Little Nicky, because she's a veritable devil.

Didn't anyone simply suggest Pussy? It's sweet enough for me...ooops, did you say literature? Okay lemme see if I can come up with something old and suitable...Is it a witch's cat? I should consider that as well...

I used to have a dog we named - Holack (Hebrew for black one).

I currently have a cat named Orpheus.

Or Ada, Lord Byron's daughter. A formidable woman in her own right, she effectively wrote the first computer program (an algorithm to calculate Bernoulli numbers) for Charles Babbage's as yet unbuilt mechanical Analytical Engine.

I've only ever named two animals. Both Cats.

1. Ferocious (furry for short)
2. Vicious (vicky for short)

my dad is planning on getting a dog soon and naming it aggressive. aggy for short.

Mine is called Alice even though she is not named after Alice in Wonderland, most people think she is.

For myself, after my girlfriend suggested the name, I immediately thought of: "Who the f* is Alice"

ROFL . How many people remember that?

Congratulations!Mum

to me there everything we have 6 at the moment, and there all happy as.Not counting the tree dogs and the birds and everyone gets along ,most of the time.Over the years we have had many cats the last of our old one's too pass away Garfield and Penny were 21 brother and sister. But our very own runt was a ginger called Timmy we thought it was a boy when we found out he was a she we renamed her Thumbelina (timmy 4 short) she was only a few hours old when someone dumped her on our doorstep, anyway timmy lived till she was 19 and a half, she was the most loving smoocher you could ever hope to meet. All ours were rescued or dumped. All cats have there own presence not just personality ,but my favourite name has to be Modesty. If you want unusal remember the musical 'Cats'?Well you can either check the dvd out or read the book by T.s.Elliott.Ther are most def some great names.
Sorry to ramble on But i wish you much joy.
Sal
P.S Don't forget that whatever name you decide on it has to be called Out Loud at night,so don't make it super long e.g Nostradumas and when you have more than one and your trying too keep the peace they get offened if you screw up there name.Or they ignore you.:D
