Zsinj and Too Nice, you're off thread topic. Once again, in this particular cover art thread and this one only, the subject is only positive comments about covers, not criticisms. If you don't like it, don't comment on it in this thread. You can complain about the covers in other cover art threads in the forum, but here, it's against the topic.
I really like this one. The author is a former cop and morgue worker writing about a zombie who works in a morgue.
It's a perfect companion to Pitts' Black Blade series, at least going by the cover, and Pitts himself has mentioned it on his blog/Twitter. I think our own B has been reading it, too. I think the illustration is great, but I think you can guess the one thing that doesn't sit well with me. But yes, I like it in a way.
Considering Dan Dos Santos did the art for both the Rowland and Pitts' books, that makes sense. On the Rowland book, it works really nice in person, too. The image is great and the white and pink mix well. The cover does a fine job of telling you everything you need to know about the book. The only (and I can't help it here Kat, but at least I'm couching it in lots of positives!) thing that maybe doesn't work is the font used for the title.
But it goes with the hand-lettered trailer park signs! I don't actually like the term "white trash" myself in regular life, but for satire it works fairly well, and Rowland's explanation for how the book came about on John Scalzi's blog is really interesting: http://whatever.scalzi.com/2011/07/08/the-big-idea-diana-rowland-2/
Really enjoyed White Trash Zombie, a fun overall read. It's a bit slow as it's majorly introspective and the mystery plot wasn't focused on until the later half of the book all told. What I found odd was how few female characters there were and there were only like 3 scenes total in which our main character speaks with another female character. The "white trash" characters didn't sound that trashy either. But in all, I thought it was fun and could be worth the read for quite a few here I think. But I think some would find it slow and low on action. I thought it read a bit like Dan Wells' John Cleaver series.
I love the art of this. http://www.amazon.co.uk/River-Gods-...=sr_1_4?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1311267527&sr=1-4 I saw it at my local shop, and it looks x10 better in person, and maybe lose the cheap word-art like font, but I like it.
Pretty big list below, bear with it because I think there are some great artists there. In typical weirdness, I've got to post another Baen cover. I got David Weber's Worlds of Weber this week, and I love the cover:
You know, I should probably start up one of these for the SF forum, as we have a lot of good SF cover art.
But Worlds of Weber has both fantasy and sci-fi! It's relevant Either that or we move this topic to a more appropriate forum? General Discussion, maybe?
I don't have a problem with SF covers popping up here; I just think it would be nice for the SF forum too. Lookee, steampunk!
That's on my Amazon wishlist. The cover looks amazing! I've not heard anything about the book itself, though.
Try to go with slightly smaller images when you can, folks. Some people's computers can't handle the large ones.
