The planet of Kiln is where the tyrannical Mandate keeps its prison colony, and for inmates the journey there is always a one-way trip. One such prisoner is Professor Arton Daghdev, xeno-ecologist and political dissident. Soon after arrival he discovers that Kiln has a secret. Humanity is not the first intelligent life to set foot there.

In the midst a ravenous, chaotic ecosystem are the ruins of a civilization, but who were the vanished builders and where did they go? If he can survive both the harsh rule of the camp commandant and the alien horrors of the world around him, then Arton has a chance at making a discovery that might just transform not only Kiln but distant Earth as well.

  1. It appears to be promising, invigorating, and it certainly gives rise to scientific curiosity. It also manages to build a lot of fascination that circles around the main topic: what could have led to the extinction of its earlier residents, eventually leading to the collapse of the civilisation? And if this is something that catches your attention on an alien planet, the human mind is bound to get towed by its every word, towards its central plot. A magnificent piece of imagination in the form of : Alien Clay. And the title is very appropriate, because a part of human creation is clay as well! Here is my blog post that answers part of the mystery. Not in exact context to the plot of Alien Clay, but more in relation with what can cause a civilisation to vanish. https://best-selling-books-scifi.blogspot.com/2023/10/science-fiction-journey.html
