It was today – September 8th – in 1966 that the first episode of Star Trek was shown on NBC in the US.
There are lots of events going on, so we hope you enjoy the day.
In our own little way, we thought we would repeat an article that was written for the site on hearing of the death of Leonard Nimoy (Spock) in 2015. It shows how important Star Trek was to one fan in the UK, and how he still remembers that first episode shown in the UK when he was 5!
