Arrival Getting Rave Reviews Ahead of U.S. Release

With less than a month until its U.S. Release date, the film Arrival has been generating high praise from film critics.

The movie, starring Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, and Forrest Whitaker, currently holds a 100%-fresh rating on the site Rotten Tomatoes, and an 80 on metacritic.com.

In the film, twelve spacecrafts of unknown origin have landed in seemingly random locations around the globe. Linguist Louise Bank (Adams) is contracted by US Army Colonel Weber (Whitaker) to translated audio recordings found at the site.

Arrival is based on the 2000 Nebula Award-winning novella, “Story of Your Life” by Ted Chiang.

In a panel at the BFI London Film Festival, Adams told the moderator that a strong focus on motherhood, and her character’s relationship with her daughter, were things that drew her to the film.

For many American movie-goers, this will be the first chance to see director Denis Villeneuve in action. Villeneuve is currently filming the sequel to Blade Runner, to be released next year.

Arrival will release in American theaters on November 11, 2016.
