Feist's "Magician"...film??

I have often thought of a movie, aand I'm with having lesser known people as the actors. 1. they cost less 2. they aren't type cast.

I know he doesn't appear until Princes of the Blood, but I think jackie chan would be awesome in a role as Nakor. He is good at "Islani open hand fighting" and he has a fair bit of comedy in his movies.

from what i've heard of the character i think you could be right. but it would be hard to take a series of films to that many, i think the furthest i woul dgo would be the riftwar tril and then the empire tril because i hear it has gret premise but like a book i was adapting a while back it needs the predecessor to work ie riftwar because there is so much that we can then take for granted and don't have to explain. otherwise we'd have to work the premise in.
who else do you think would work from today's actors - i personally like actors who can be other people eg. ben affleck is ben affleck in every film he does where as Liev Schreiber, jonny depp, brendan gleeson, sean bean are all actors who become their characters rather than try to act like the characters they are trying to portray.
so who do you think would work for other characters. that's the fun part.

I think if you are doing the riftwar trilogy, then maybe Sean Bean as Roland. oh and possibly Gary Oldman as Guy du Bas Tyra

i like the gary oldman idea but sean bean -though i do like him- i don't think he suits roland it would be cool to have him though.
I like looking at this type of thing and going "i think he would be great as that character".
Anyone else. I've always seen pug and thomas as unknown - newly discovered talents.
arutha suggested mel gibson-with beard- for borric.
the character of arutha i can think - some of these people are so dear to their fans it kills me to think.
Still gary oldman is a fantasic idea for guy.
i've just sat here for the last 5 mins thinking and i realise that the way i see these characters makes it difficult for me to pick known actors. god that's hard. if you get any other ideas - or even where sean bean could go let me know- i'll think too.

I agree that Pug and Tomas should be young actors fresh from acting school. I think sean connery would be a fitting portrayal of borric. I cant think of others on the spot. Maybe keira knightley as Carline? I think the cast should be mostly new talents but with a couple of veterans in there. Not veterans as in brad pitt or something. Russel crowe as meecham! now theres a thought

riftwar

connery's a real question mark but i like the idea of russell crowe (gladiator-esk) as meecham.
new and inventive to say the least
how about caroline dhavernas - type it into google if you don't know her - as the adult version of carline.
although i can't really say i wouldn't like to see her as martin's love interest in sethanon or katala - yes i know she's meant to be asian type but i never really see katala like that.
i know, i'm weird.
wonder were everybody's gone no one seems to be at the forums i go to now?
weird indeed.
anyone else for the characters?
how about brendan gleeson as amos. he can do comedies really well ad can pull off the feeling of amos quite well i think.

Hey guys sorry I havent' been able to write to you my computer was out of order, the characters you guys are coming up with sound perfect and will fit the positions well I think, if there is anything you need help with give me a message, I may be able to help with funding a bit from the old man if I can sway his mind.

Chris if you want to get hold of me send me a e-mail at [email protected], are you in Belfast NZ or Ireland sorry if I sound dumb but it might prove handy to know one day. The e-mail bit goes for others who would like to help and give feedback on the movie and things that you would like to see and not like to see in it. Sorry if i'm taking over Chris but I jut love Raymond E Feist and would like to see his books made into movies that rival LOTR lol.

forget rival lotr we wanna kick their collective asses.
i'll email you from now on then.
don't worry about taking over, as long as you've not kicked me out of my writing job i'm good :) .
thanks for the huge interest.
mucho important to our moral when being stuck in one room writing (with the same people) most of the day. - I'm sure i'm bothering them as much as their bothering me. lol.
thanks.
chris.

I suppose :(

Anyway, in my new refreshed opinion I think that most of the characters should be played by actors we've never heard of before-DISCOVERIES. I mean, look at the LOTR films. The only person acting in that that I heard of before was Liv Tyler.
So there you are now :)

???

he's got too much bulk - arutha is the shortest of the three conDoin brothers. He's normal build but commanding of speech and presence. I looked up Paul Telfer and he just doesn't command attention. (well not to me but i suppose i'm not of the persuasion that would find him interesting).

I personally think - like the lord of the rings we should have some known and some unknown.
Unknown for the characters like pug, tomas and arutha.
But known for people like borric, rodric and guy etc.

The best i've heard so far is gary oldman for guy.
As for danny devito is there anyone of the core characters that you could see him as.

sam neil

sam neil has got to be in there somewhere... i thought martin... or meecham... not sure he's big enough tho... whata comback for him it would be!

Shadowcraft, I noted Telfer for in my opinion good acting and if you don't think so, who cares. :D
Its gonna have to be discoveries for most of them I'm afraid.
As for Sam Neill, who could you have him as. Borric perhaps. Actually, I think that would be good. I can imagine him now in his tent in full armour poring over a map before battle. Hmmm ...... Maybe

???

wow - don't know if you meant to be rude warlord but you managed it anyway.

as for his acting - i've never seen him act, but liam neesen is a brilliant actor - i still wouldn't cast him for frodo, though.

They gotta look the part as well.

P.S. if you've read this whole thread though you should know that i'm the one who started the project in my work and i'm the one who's writing the script for the actual film so i think my opinion maybe matters a small, tiny, wee bit don't you?

Honestly shadowcraft? your writing a script? cool!
Meecham is very Russel crowe mind.... you heard that from me lol
