i have my copy on my shelves almost for a week now...but i dare not touch it or my study is going to drags for next couple of days...and i can't afford that. my girlfriend read it - she said joe bests himself, the reviews I've read claim the same. i'm damn itchy,but i'll let the tension build for a while longer at least

Actually, that's interesting. I try very hard not to read other reviews before I've written mine, and now that mine's up, I can look. It is quite impressive to see how many positives there are around and about.

Had a beer with Joe and his publisher on Thursday and they seemed fairly pleased by the situation, namely that the book got a ton of great reviews, about 50 people showed up for the Forbidden Planet signing, the book got as high as Number 7 on the Amazon.co.uk bestseller list and Gollancz completely sold out of the mass market paperbacks of Before They Are Hanged.

Joe also seemed impressed by what is probably the first T-shirt to be based on his books appearing, quoting one of his worst reviews

Got the Last Argument of Kings last week and I am making my way though it at the moment. Enjoying it a lot - there are some plot points I saw coming from miles (books) away, but I'm still very much enjoying it.

The action has just started up a notch so am really looking forward to getting tucked into it tonight.

I am also thinking about reading Swiftly, found it the other day in Boarders and quite liked the sound of it.

On the contrary, I think it's brilliant. However little they like my stuff, they're still forced to concede that it's popular...

I finished Last Argument Of Kings this morning, took me five hours to get through the last half of the book, but I had to finish it before I could move onto anything else.

A truly fantastic read and the first author in any genre to have me heading down the bookshop on day of release for many a year.

There are a number of characters from books that stay with you forever, Sand Dan Glotka is going to be one of those. For someone in so much agony every minute of every day he fights to stay alive wonderful story arc.

Just finished the book. Like some others, i thought i saw where the book was heading. But.. boy was i wrong.

Although i have some issues with the ending, the whole reading experience of the first law trilogy was amazing. Thanks again Joe for a wonderful 3 books. Also, i really appreciate not having to wait too long between books.

I finished the book on Thursday and then gone on and reread the whole trilogy to appreciate the fine points that presage the momentous events of this one.

There are enough reviews out there, so I only will say that it's unlikely any fantasy book including R. Morgan this summer and GRRM if published, will top this for me this year.

I've just completed the book yesterday at 3.00A.M., or was it today? I'm short of my sleep, that's what I am. I'm still gathering my thoughts (my wits are far to scatered) to write a coherent review.

Finished it last night and boy was the ending depressing. I know Joe has always gone for the real life approach to the fantasy genre, but geezzz! Some great battle scenes and lots of twists, but a rather downbeat ending.

A great series and I think it marks a high point in modern fantasy. The way Joe has worked with the genres cliches and made them realistic and funny, but not in an offensive way, is what makes these books so special.

Very pleased others seem to have liked it as much as I did.

Personally I liked the ending, Wulfa. It wasn't what I was expecting, but it was very Joe, I thought.

Now whether people will be happy about the ending is a different matter!
