What games are you playing?

Man I can't wait for God of war 3 the first two were awesome! Loved the whole killing Greek gods and mythical creatures. Hated the hydra and minotaur.

All Xbox
I just finished Fear 2 Project Origin. I very much enjoyed it the game but found it either too short or too easy. Especially since I played it on the Hard setting. The original Fear is still my favorite.

I'm still playing Fallout 3. Operation Anchorage to be precise. This game is great. I hope they keep the DLCs coming.

I'm also playing Dead Space. This game is really fun and innovative.

I finished BioShock about 6 months ago and really enjoyed it.

How did you find the DLC system? I've never used Live but I'd love to get the new GTA DLC, trouble is my net connection isn't fast - about 50 kb/s and I've never connected my 360 to my net connection. What thoughts/suggestions do you have, I need my GTA biker fix badly :D

Just finisher Tomb Raider: Underworld. that was okay the plot was about average and the gameplay was confusing but not a bad finish as they go.

Am not sure whether to get Xbox LIVE. have heard it is good but am concerned with the price. is it worth it. have got a hard drive and only need the router and membership. are there any LIVE players out there with an opinion?

I find the DLC to be very user friendly. I downloaded from the website and fired up the game. And there it was.

I've only used it for that one game, but I didn't have any problems.

Thank you, do you mind if I ask how long it took to download?

It definitely depends on the size of the download. The Fallout 3 DLC only took about 10 minutes if I remember correctly. The cool thing is you can start the download and then go and play another game while its downloading.

You can also initiate the download from xbox.com and it will start the download as soon as you log into your live profile. Immediately if you are already logged in.

Right now played Mirrors Edge, not as great as I thought it would be, kinda like assassin's creed without the blood.

I just bought a 360 and I'm playing the Lego Indiana Jones game that came with it. It's not difficult or anything but it is fun. I keep trying to find all the hidden places. Plus the cut scenes are funny if you know the movies.

Completed Army of Two over the weekend and can't think of much to recommend it. It was too short, frustrating and felt really rushed. That'll teach me to buy EA I guess ...

Just finished King's Bounty: The Legend. It's a bit of a PC-tuned mix between a JRPG and a turn based strategy game such as Heroes of Might and Magic. Highly recommend it to fans of either genre.

Looking for another PC game to start now but not sure what...

For some unknown reason I started playing Star Wars Galaxies. I haven't played since launch but the game is more polished 5 years later. Not sure of the content and gameplay yet however.

If there is anyone who rolls an entertainer, I could use some tips...

That is certainly a odd game to be starting now, then again I still have an active Everquest account so I'm one to talk. I've heard a lot of people say SWG has improved a lot lately as they undid some of the poorly thought out changes they made a few years back. There is a new Star Wars MMO being developed by Bioware which is looking like it could be very good: http://www.swtor.com/

Still playing WoW. Taking my Malazan named character out and ganking some elves just never gets old.

I'm looking forward to a Malazan MMO (since everything else is an MMO now I'm sure we'll have a MalazaMMO eventually).

Perhaps but I think publishers are shying away from making MMOs a bit in the current economic climate. Unfortunately WoW is behind this somewhat as it's eatting up most of the subscribers available in the market and they're mostly very loyal so even well financed and developed new MMOs are failing to draw the players they should.

WoW. Just hit 80 on my Warlock, and I'm grinding dailies for faction and instances for gear before I hit the arena circut.

I picked up a cheap copy of SW: Force Unleashed, it is v.boring and seems like a waste of a really good chance to make a strong Star Wars game. Back to the shop with thee.

There's so much in WoW that would appeal to a fantasy book reader that I'm surprised more people here don't play. But thinking back to all that angst in the thread about getting spotting reading a fantasy book on public transportation maybe some people don't want to admit they play.

There's a daily quest that allows you ride a bronze dragon and help them in their war against the blue dragons. Dogfighting on a chatty dragon is fun, and if you're riding on the ground below there are dragon corpses falling out of the sky and crashing all around you.

There's steampunk. The gnomes and the dwarves have all sorts of cute steampunk widgets. This player made video is choppy but you can at least see the steam tanks in the background storming the fortress in Wintergrasp. Squishy mage types can hop in and fire spells from within the mid sized tanks or man the gun on the roof of the larger tanks.

There's the racial aspects. If you've always felt that elves in fantasy lit are arrogant tree hugging pricks that need their herd thinned a bit then get out your gnomelock and start thinning. My gnomelock there has 28,702 kills to date. Not all of them are elves of course. Sometimes misguided individuals will attempt to prevent me from getting at the elves. People on the other side enjoy killing gnomes so there's something for everyone.

I think the thing that keeps most people away is the grindy aspect of the game. The fantasy theme often feels like a thin cover for that grind so that it's not really immersive. Things like the arena seasons, tokens for loot instead of actual items, cookie cutter 'x sword of y' items, numerical representation of reputation, etc, don't feel natural and prevent the game from coming alive for many people when compared to a story lead offline RPG.
