HBO True Blood - Based on Sookie Stackhouse books

Well, the trouble with making Lafayette a vampire is there is already a shortage of non-supernatural characters, the show works fine now but I think if eventually there are no more PEOPLE then the show would suffer a lot.

Holy crap, Lafayette all jacked up on ancient blood was one of the funniest things ever.

I laughed quite a bit at that scene as well. I'm glad Lafayette is back to normal, as he is the most fun to watch on the show.

I also laughed A Lot when LaFayette was dancing around. He is my favorite character in this show. I'm glad they didn't kill him off. I also thought Jessica was funny in this episode. The ending was good as well. Tara and Eggs......that was very........mmmmm.

Am I the only one who thinks the Mary Ann/Tara story thread is becoming drawn out and annoying? Tara wasn't always my favorite character by any stretch, but I feel like Stan and Kyle on that South Park episode whenever the focus goes to Tara, "Really Don't Care."

Get to the point already with Mary Ann, please.

Yeah I agree. With so much awesome stuff it's hard to care about some hedonistic sorceress all that much. She's lucky sam doesn't turn into a grizzly and tear her a new one.

I wonder if Sookie and Jason are going to run into each other? Her helping the vampires to find his new best friends and Jason trying to kill the vampires.

Well I hope he does, because that crazy preacher is going to kill her or something.

Finally, a little progress on the Tara/Eggs/Mary Ann storyline. I still find them annoying and drawn out, but at least we got something. Can't wait for Sookie to get back with Bill and clean house.

Good, GOOD stuff with Sookie going to the Church of Light - how did they know she could read their thoughts?

Jason is still dumb as a bag of hammers, but he is growing as a character and it was only a matter of time until he and the Preacher's wife did what they did.

Andy's voice coming out of Eric's head was funny.

'Mary Anne' is supposed to be a Maenad, a worshipper of Dionysus (Bacchus), god of wine and debauchery. The Maenads were the women who took art in the wild worship sessions referred to as the "bacchanalia." Notice when Sookie hears her thoughts, they are usually in Greek. Listen carfeully, and you will hear the word "Bacchus."

I don't know whatall they're doing with her part.....it is way, way drawn out and different from the books.

BTW.....I have seen and held in my hands a bottle of Tru-Blood, the soda HBO will be marketing. (Some of you lucky enough to attend Comic-Con assuredly saw it before I did.)

In the show, it seems Eric has invited Lorena to find Bill to get him away from Sookie. That is totally uncanonical!!
DeeDee is so furious about this she swears she will never watch another episode. (I'll believe that when I see it.) She feels they have done too much damage to Eric's essential character already, and this was the last straw for her.

I, however, see some leeway for this interpretation even in light of the books, so I am not as upset. I am looking forward to the next episode.......

And yes, Lafayette's impromptu.......er, um......dance, was one of the funniest things I've ever seen. He and Jessica are delightful characters.

I think Drawn Out would be correct, because it seems like her storyline could have been resolved in fewer episodes.

The Maenad wants some kind of tribute from Eric and attacks Sookie to get his attention. The idea that Eric had no idea who/what attacked Sookie is absurd. He knows the Maenad wants something of value from him. I'd have to reread books 2 and 3 to recall exactly, but that's the way it is in the novels.

I just watched the first season on dvd. Pretty good. Not being a prude here but the sex scenes did seem to be a bit excessive. Still enjoyed them though;)

Now I just have to wait a year or so for season two to get released here:(

Wait until the second season, especially the just aired (I think episode 6?) - it is practically soft-core porn.

In interviews posted at various places, the actors and Alan Ball had said this season would be "hotter" than last season. I think that was quite an understatement.

I really am hoping that some of you give the actual books a read. Harris is a good writer, and the books are written from Sookie's point of view. Sookie in the books is an extremely likeable woman. There are nine books to date, and once you read the first couple, you'll want to read right through the series. The erotic content is mostly subtle and much better written than, for example, Laurell Hamilton's.

I have to pitch the site maintained by my daughter and a friend from Australia......especially for Eric-fans. DeeDee does a great job of getting videos, art, fanfic, etc., and the forum is a pretty good one.

Always wondered who they get to play bill's ex,if she would live up to the image that harris books potray her in. I have to say yes she does.

I honestly have a great deal of faith in Alan Ball's writing abilities and I have too much reading to get through already so I'm enjoying just taking the series as it comes. What happens now though is every episode my girlfriend takes every opportunity to say how things are different from the books but I don't really care all that much. I think the story is fine for the most part and someday I probably will get to the books but I'm not in a big rush.

that guy that plays Jason is a phenomenal actor. I've never seen anyone play dumb so well. I hope for his sake that that is acting ability and not just straight up stupidity on his part. That last episode was pretty good, one of the better ones this season. When Tara and Lafayette started snapping at each other I said out loud, "man I've really been missing that kind of stuff."

They are getting pretty carried away with the sex but as far as Marianne goes it does fit with her story, but that doesn't help much with me since I'm pretty tired of her story anyhow at this point.

I agree the Marianne storyline is really starting to really bore me. I wish would just whack her or something.

Finally! Some forward progression with the plot this past week - answers confirmed about Maryanne and some of those in her thrall.

Glad to see advancement in Dallas, too.

This was easily the best episode of the season, but next week's looks like it might be better.

I agree, unfortunately I'm driving to New Jersey on Sunday so I probably won't get to see it until Tuesday or so.
