Kate Elliott's Crown of Stars

i personally am never affected by character whining, i love all of hobbs books, including the live ship (probably one of my favourite trilogies)

i see lots of complaints as well as compliments for hobb and i tend to dissagree with most of them, i simply love the way she involves the readers with the characters and do not find the expressing of those characters annoyiing in any way.

i do not over analyse becuase if i did i am sure i would find so many annoyances with even the best books ever written.

guess im just more easy going,, and i always find hobbs books the easiest to really lose myself in.

i have not read any elliott, but even with the comments in this thread about preaching or quality levels, i am sure i will read and enjoy all of them thoroughly, i have learnt that i am simply more lenient than a lot of the user on this board (probably because i have not been reading for a very long time),

as long as the author isn't totally pretentious, or unoriginal, i usually love it.

heya, i know this thread is quite old.. but i guess it fits what i want to ask xD
i just finished the second book, im liking the story until now.. but there are some stuff that i "fear", and wanted to make sure it wont happen before continuing to book 3.
if possible, could someone just answer this few questions if possible with a yes/no not to have much spoilers... (even though i spoiled myself reading the thread)

will the story focus more on alain from now on? i mean, a big part of the first book talked about him... but the second one focused less (im pretty sure at least)

will this situation between liath/hugh continue for a lot longer? starting to get anoying in my opinion

thx in advance, cumps

I read up through the half-way point of book six (still mean to get back to it), but felt the plot climaxed by the end of the 5th book (which is why I'm finding the 6th book to be dragging a bit). But yes, Alain does play a much larger role in the later books. And yes, the dynamic between Liath and Hugh continues throughout the series (at least into book 6), and I agree it is a bit annoying (I mean, come on! She's not your little sex slave anymore, "Father" Hugh!).

The Liath/Hugh relationship, and the rape of another character, led me to put this book down. I understand it's a powerful theme to tell a story, but it I found it very over stimulating.
