What games are you playing?

According to my game I am about 40 hours into Zelda: Twilight Princess. A really great big adventure. For some reason my kids like watching me play, and they have actually been quite gelpful with finding, doors or items.

Great game.

Finally finished God of War 3. Took me a while to figure out how to beat Zeus, but once I got into a pattern it was pretty easy.

Now playing Heavy Rain.

Now playing Heavy Rain.

I bought Heavy Rain on release and played it for around a week... and - I can't think why - but I put it down and never played it again. A couple of weeks ago it's now made progress from my shelf to the floor in front of my PS3.

Let me know how you get on with it... might inspire me to give it another go...

Picked up Marvel vs Capcom the other day, primarily so my 3 year old can beat me up as the Hulk. The kid is a Hulk freak... (and I love it cos so am I).

My birthday in a few days and I've already asked for Killzone 3. Can beat a timely birthday...

Yeah, I put in about four hours into Heavy Rain and then put it down. Nothing against the game itself, just decided to do other things. I'll finish it eventually.

Just watched the new game play trailer for Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Awesome. Also found out Mass Effect 3 will be out Q4 this year. That's another awesome.

I picked up Bulletstorm today, and I'm just about to finish installing it.

Here's to hoping my PC doesn't explode.

Finished Killzone 3. Lots of different environments that looked great and the weapons varied more as the game went on. The ending felt a bit rushed. Overall I enjoyed it and now I'm onto the multiplayer. I've only played a couple of maps so far. There was some serious snow on one of them that made visibility pretty tough in parts. I have to say to melee someone is the best.

Collectors edition of Dead Space 2. Bought it just before the prices really started to drop.

Having a break from New Vegas to slaughter necromorphs instead. Fantastic. Better graphics than the first one and some nice tweaks to the interface.

I saw a 10 year old kid on the bus with that game. Ugh, wanted to give his mum a piece of my mind - Something unusual for me.

I'd be playing Bulletstorm, but my PC can barely run it, so it'll have to wait a month :(

Decided to try out New Vegas as unarmed/melee. started playing it yesterday. So far I've been able to decapitate Powder Gangers with a knife and bash them into submission with a baseball bat. Took one of the traits that ups my melee and unarmed attacks, but decreases my critital strikes. So far the trade off seems to be worth it, in my opinion.

There is a drawback, however: the amount of damage I take. I'm really going to have to spend a lot of points in survival, I think. I go through far too many stimpacks and Sunset Sarsaparilla for my liking, especially now that I'm out of Goodsprings and in Primm with a lot of angry convicts. I also need to get my Perception up, 'cos I'm not seeing these guys quick enough so I can sneak up on them.

It was funny, my fiancee was watching me play and he'd yell things like "Don't sell the ammo! It's hard to come by!" and I'd look at him and say, "I don't use guns, remember?" And he'd look like he was swallowing something sour and reply, "Right. . ." I could really tell the word 'but' wanted to come out there. He really had to struggle watching me play such a different style from his rough tough soldier thing he does. I wanna be a ninja, not a tank.

Picked up Gray Matter today (I think it released on Friday), and I'm so glad I did. It's beautiful in so many ways, and I'm only 30mins into it!

Can't wait to seriously sit down and give it a good go.

Finished Dead Space 2. Spent some serious time on it. Really enjoyed it. Also finished the bundled shooter Dead Space - Extraction story mode and now playing challenge mode. I'll probably play DS2 through again with the perks gained from finishing it the first time. Must try the flame thrower and the javelin gun and the pulse rifle and max out the force gun and................

I fear for your ninja skills when taking on a death claw. ;)

I really dug Heavy Rain myself and played it through in the span of a few days. I think a part of the reason was that people were trying to ruin the ending for everyone at almost every gaming site, so I just burned through it to experience it for myself. I love games like HR, and their previous entry last generation, Indigo Prophecy. They have flaws, yes, but I am able to toss them aside quite easily and appreciate the experience.

How long did it take you to beat it? I want to play through the campaignn at some point, but I have no interest in the MP, so I will either rent it or wait for a price drop.

Awesome..I have been thinking of doing something similar when I finally finish the game for the first time. I have 130 hours sunk into my first playthrough and am going through the Dead Money DLC before I go and finish off the endgame quests. Thanks for the tips. :D

I loved Indigo Prophecy. It was a blast. Some of the controls were a bit wonky and I'd have to re-do a segment over and over again because I wasn't hitting my joystick in just the correct manner, but like you said, it was highly enjoyable.

As for Heavy Rain, there were a couple of factors leading to me setting it aside until later.

1) My T.V. We had an old t.v. with a smaller screen and I couldn't see all the action pop-ups so there were times I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing. We got a new HDTV for Xmas this year, so it should be a lot better when I start it up again. (When I decided to replay Mass Effect on the new t.v., and I could actually see the blurbs telling me what I just picked up and the such, that was an exciting moment, let me tell you. Getting a nice t.v. really upped my gaming experience, oh man.)

2) I'm at the part where I'm the F.B.I. dude in a slaughter house with dangling hooks and dead cows. I got really creeped out. I don't do well with horror or heavy suspense. I need to get my fiance to sit in the room with me while I play Heavy Rain, I think. I know that sounds silly, but if I don't, I'll have a similar experience as to what I had when I tried playing Silent Hill. I played with a golf club on my knee and jumped at every noise in the house. I don't know if my cats would survive the experience.

As for the spoilers, the only place I discuss video games is on here, for that very reason. I like my games to be a surprise. People here are pretty good at blocking out the spoilers.

No problem. I'll let you know if I come across anything else that should be known. I made my personality really high so I can talk my way out of situations and the such. That makes it pretty handy for when someone has a machine gun and all you have is some crappy leather armor a merc dropped and a meat cleaver, y'know? And strength, oh man, go for strength. When I made my character at the beginning, I put my strength up to 8. Which meant some of my other things were only at 5, but it meant I could decapitate an opponent with one swipe of a knife at the very beginning of the game.

Haven't played in a little bit 'cos I've been sick, and then I got engaged and well, instead of playing video games I've been researching wedding stuff and coming up with a budget. Oh, and trying on wedding dresses. I've been doing a whole lot of that. Hehe. There's now a rule in my house. I'm only allowed to talk to my fiance about wedding stuff on Saturdays. I think he's tired of being shown spreadsheets and graphs.

MattNY- I would say around 8-9 hours. I would probably wait or rent as well if you have no interest in the MP.

Those seem like pretty good (and hilarious, with the baseball bat) reasons to put it on hold. ;)

I think whenever you get the time to get back to it, you will love it. To me, the experience was well fleshed out from start to finish. I think I might have to track down a copy again sometime and replay it. Even though I know the story, I loved the interaction you could have with the world.

Cool, I will try to shape mine in that manner and see how it works out. I put Vegas on hold to try to finish of Assassin's Creed II, but I am also putting in new carpet in my house this week, so time is a bit limited for awhile.

Congrads on being engaged! Good luck getting everything planned together, without driving him completely batty. ;)

Got my copy of Dragon Age II yesterday! Yay! It's pretty awesome so far. It still has the same vibe as Origins, but they've combined it with the game play of Mass Effect. They still kept the classic D&D style inventory menu (Y'know, the picture of your character with the boxes around her/him where you decide to put which piece of corresponding armor or weapon) and the quick buttons for spells and abilities, but then they added the ME-like start menu, dialogue and trigger quick-menus for when you're in combat.

They did make some aspects of the game more challenging, though: potions. You can't just run around and make potions or buy them from any merchant anymore. You find the ingredients for a potion and then you go to the potions merchant and "order" them. The same goes for runes. You have to get the ingredients to make the runes and then you bring it all to the merchant and he'll order the rune for you. I don't know if it takes a lot of time to get your potions, because I'm still near the beginning of the game and I a) don't have all the ingredients I need and b) I'm trying to get money for both a quest and to buy some better weapons.

Another nice touch is a personal chest that you can store equipment in. You can also buy backpacks to expand your inventory. I don't remember those being in Origins. At any rate, who doesn't like a good backpack in a fantasy RPG? I did splurge on one of those.

This game is a lot more fast paced than Origins. It moves at a real nice clip. I've already got six or seven side quests, have completed a companion quest, a few secondary quests and a few for my main quest.

It is also nice that the game brings you out of Ferelden, so you get to see what the world looks like outside of that country.

I'm really enjoying it. Can't wait to get home from work today so I can play it some more!

Both were in Origins. I believe there were about 4-5 backpacks available at various points in the game, including two at Ostagar that were time-limited (Not at the same time, though. One was pre-Wilds, the other post-Wilds), and a personal chest was available in the Warden's Keep content pack.

Well, for those who don't have their 360 hooked up to the 'net, that content pack was unavailable and not in the game. ;)
