A BIG Day

Both Rob and I have said that it's something we've been meaning to do, but real-life seems to have got in the way... but we hope you like it, and it's useful. I've added some that are on my TBR list too: the Kylie Lee Baker and Automatic Noodle for two....

I/We were surprised - because we hadn't really thought about it up to now - how generally dark, grim and intense our reading has been over the last year! Finding 'fun stuff' was harder - I guess that we don't do fun! :D

Somewhat unrelated, but every time I see Joe Hill’s name I feel a severe pang of regret for selling off a first edition signed copy of 20th Century Ghosts before an intercontinental move.

Hello and welcome back after the commercial break. You all know me, I'm RedMage, host of the talk show A BIG Day.

@Ropie, that's quite a suggestion. Not unprecedented though. No, far from it. SFFWorld has a history of creating new forums and subforums to fit the needs and desires of the community, as well as combining forums and deleting sections that are no longer used.

Case in point, @Dawnstorm referred to a "Fun...er Zone"? I joined the site at the end of 2009 and I have no idea what that is. (Though, something is appearing far off in the fog of memory, just a shadow I can barely see. So maybe I do remember it but it's just been so long and I visited so rarely.)

What are others thoughts on Ropie's idea?

@Hobbit, @Raf, @Westy, @blailock, @Prairie_Dog, @suciul, @Fryan, @chitman13, @Randy M., @T77, @tpetty and just @EVERYONE (wish that was a thing... ;) )
I can see pluses and minuses for combining the 2 reading forums. Honestly, either way wouldn't bother me at all. I read and post to both.

@Hobbit, how did you first come to SFFWorld? You've been an admin since I first joined in 2009. Was there ever a time when you were a regular member, just talking about books and asking mods to help with this or that? And, if so, how did you become an admin?

Was a member for a few years before becoming 'staff', just as the Internet for domestic use was starting (Dial-up!) And was just talking about books and stuff. And I must admit I'm not quite sure whether I was asked or whether I just volunteered to help (think it was the latter, actually.)

The admin thing grew as I took more on. To edit & review reviews before posting, I needed to be an admin. And so it happened.

I met my wife on an AOL chat group called the "The Otherworlds Cafe". She was a Mod for the weekly scfi / fantasy chat group. We shared a love of science fiction and fantasy and just reading in general. Come this December we will have been married 28 yrs :).

That's fantastic, Raf! What a story! I've met some great friends here, people I'm in touch with daily, despite that they left the forum years ago. Though, I haven't met Mrs. Right yet.
