Even today the Discovery looks amazing . From what iv'e read , when did they did the sequel 2010 A Space Odyssey . They had to build a new model because original Discovery model had been scraped . They did a very impressive job of recreating it. In tv series Space 1999 there are some ships that variants on that design. This is not surprising given that Brian Johnson created the models for both.

In the series Babylon 5 The Drazi Sunhawks and the White Stars were both homages to the Blake 7 Liberator.

Actually, Space 1999's Eagle is a good shout - saw 2 episodes at a cinema on Sunday and the models still look great!;

The special effects and props in those tv shows were lightyears ahead of everyone else.
