“Dune: Prophecy” TV Series

More casting announcements, this time we learn of five new actresses. Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Faoileann Cunningham, Aoife Hinds and Chloe Lea have all been cast in the series.

Boussnina (“The Colony,” “Knightfall”) will play Princess Ynez, described as “an independent young princess dealing with the pressures of her responsibility as heir to the Golden Lion Throne. Brune-Franklin (“The Tourist,” “Line of Duty”) plays Mikaela, said to be “a strong-willed Fremen woman who serves the royal family while longing for a home planet she’s never known.”

Cunningham (“The Northman,” “The Witcher: Blood Origin”) plays Sister Jen, described as “a fierce, unpredictable acolyte in training at the Sisterhood School who rarely reveals her emotional core.” Hinds (“Normal People,” “Derry Girls”) plays Sister Emeline, said to be “a zealous acolyte descended from a long line of martyrs, who carries fervent religion to her training at the Sisterhood.” Lea (“Foundation,” “Great Expectations”) plays Lila, described as “the youngest acolyte at the Sisterhood School with a deep empathy beyond her years.”

A male cast member has now been announced, one known from his roles in “Vikings” and “Raised by Wolves.”

“Travis Fimmel has joined the prequel series “Dune: The Sisterhood” at HBO Max.”

“Fimmel will star as Desmond Hart, described as “a charismatic soldier with an enigmatic past, who seeks to gain the Emperor’s trust at the expense of the Sisterhood.
”

It appears that “Dune: The Sisterhood” is still going forward, but the prequel series will now be titled “Dune: Prophecy.” Therefore, I re-titled this thread to reflect that (which I was surprised you could do).

It is expected to premiere on MAX in late 2024. It has reportedly still been in production in Eastern Europe during the actor’s strike as the British actors that make up most of the cast are not members of SAG-AFTRA.

There have been some changes other than the name. One is “…the recasting of Shirley Henderson as Tula Harkonnen, with The Crown's Olivia Williams stepping into the role.”

Other cast is as follows:

“Jodhi May is playing Empress Natalya, Travis Fimmel is Desmond Hart and Mark Strong stars as Emperor Javicco Corrino. Sarah-Sofie Boussnina is Princess Ynez, while Shalom Brune-Franklin will play Mikaela.”

Just got an e-mail from Max, it announced Dune Part 2. However, it also had the following:

A New Prequel Series
Set 10,000 years before the birth of Paul Atreides, Dune: Prophecy explores the origins of the Sisterhood, the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. Streaming this fall, only on Max.

Now that Dune: Prophecy has streamed all six episodes of its first season on Max, it has been announced that a second season has been picked up. Reportedly, Max considers the show a success, as it’s streaming numbers made it one of their biggest hits of the year, with 15 million views for its debut episode. No word on potential release dates or how many episodes might be in the second season. This may not be surprising given that a third Dune movie is also reportedly in the works that may comprise the novel Dune Messiah.

We are beginning to get some information on Dune: Prophecy Season 2. It will reportedly premiere on HBOMAX in late 2026. It’s expected to have eight episodes rather than the six of Season 1. Early footage shows that we will be going to Arrakis this season. The photo above is from HBOMAX and features the Sisterhood. It wrapped filming in March…
