Have faith John, as you know there's a new McKillip and Kay coming up soon (and Wolfe as well, though I don't know if you're big on him) :)

"Fantasy Life," a paperback that was published in November, 2003 by Kristine Katheryn Rusch is worth a look. It is set in the the "real world" on the Oregon coastline. This book is obviously the first of a series and the emphasis put on the conflicts and secrets in the relationships between the women of four generations is the main focus of the book. The plot of the danger to the refuge of fantasy creatures created by the Buckingham women is secondary, though an integral component of the book. The history of the family is fleshed out enough to make you want more. Also there are some very interesting secondary figures that could be important later (both real world and fantasy.) I don't usually like present day fantasies, with the exception of the first two King Arthur books by Molly Cochran, but this is an entertaining book that left me interested in this family and the creatures they protect. I have read two other series by this author that I have enjoyed very much. The first was a fantasy series called "The Book of the Fey" and the second was a sci-fi series called "The Retrieval Artists."

New Jordan, new Kay, new McMullen, new McKillip, new Berg..... Faith is in plenty of supply, no worries!

Finally got to finish The Shivered Sky by Matt Dinnamin. Really liked it and glad that you reminded me to go digging in the "to read pile" or who knows how long it might have been before I got to it with the deluge that 2004 looks to be!

OK - as 2003 has now gone, I'm unsticking and closing this thread. Further comments should be in the 2004 version, please!
