ancient laguages and enhancements

You know what it's like when you write sci-fi/fantasy/lovecraftian horror tale and the protaginsts come across an ancient/alien language. I have started enhancing my own works with actual fonts (as languages) and these fonts are free and easy to download:-
Alphabet of the magi
eldar runes (i use this for sigils)
Greywolf glyphs/Nakht (heiroglyphs)
Temphis
Thorass
Atlantean runes
Cthulhu Runes
Lovecraft's Diary
Miskatonica
daedra (Elder Scrolls)
Strogg (Quake 4)
Yuata (The font used by the Predator)

DA Font
For better effect do them in something like Printmaster or do them in Microsoft Works Word Processor, cut and paste them into Paintbrush, enlarge or do what ever and then cut and paste them back into where ever you need a runic/alien inscription.

I stick to Times New Roman, or Palatino Linotype if I'm feeling frisky.

This kind of thing will, inevitably, be a subject you and your publisher will discuss with the book designer (unless, of course, you self-publish). I wouldn't get too attached to one specific font or another for this reason. That's not to say don't write it how you want to see it, just understand that it may need to be changed later on (for reasons that may or may not make sense).

tdnewton's right--if you're self-publishing, you can play with any font you want, but if you're working with a publisher, the book designer will make those decisions. You can suggest, but book designers have their pride, too, so they may not listen. If you really want your own particular font or something, realize that it costs the publisher money to produce original artwork.
