Babylon 5 DVDs

I thought I'd make a day of it and watch a bunch of Babylon 5 eps. I've hit "Shadow Dancing." That is, it's playing on my TV as I write this post. This ep is incredibly choppy, and that's after cleaning the DVD. I've almost completely missed the major battle of the ep and a chunk of Franklin's Walkabout. Some stretches are good, others are bad. It really depends. Now towards the end it's smooth sailing. I've had the DVDs for a few years now and every time I try to watch, the player skips some spots and plays others, never the same spots twice.

How do I fix this issue? Should I buy a blu-ray player just to buy the blu-ray version of this show? Has Warner Brothers ever issued some other fix?

S.O.B.s. Somehow, I was under the impression they were at least working on getting the the eps transferred to Blu-Ray. I 'liiked' that fb page instantly...

As I understand it, the big problem is that CG was all rendered at SD resolution. So they'd have to re-render the whole thing to HD for a Blu-Ray release. That's not impossible, but far from cheap.

Then they'd have to hope the 35mm negatives of the live-action footage haven't been eaten by rats again, unless they previously did an HD telecine.

Hmmmmmm. Well if they ever do pull it off, I'll definitely buy 'em. Hope it looks good.
