Dark Tower

I think they'd probably do:
Film 1 - 1, 2, part of 3.
Film 2 - End of 3, 4.
Film 3 - 5-7.
There's not enough material, really, in 1+2 to make a decent film. They'd have to take some of #3 to flesh it out a bit. I'm wondering if it's possible for them to cut out Don Callahan for the last film... No, I think Suse's pregnancy is more likely to be cut.

hmmm good point, there really isn't a "start, middle, finish" to the first two books that's important to creating a single film. it's all a build up to the third book really and THEN the dark tower truly begins.

it will be interesting to see who they cast too. i always imagined roland as clint eastwood lol but obviously he's too old for that role now (sadly). perhaps they'll go with some unknown actors as opposed to big stars?

Dwag - of course Oy would be there. He is so cool - I want one too. CGI rocks!

Caution will have to be used around Susannah's personality switches so that it is not too over the top. She was the one charachter that grated for me at times. I dont know what Eddie saw in her - she would drive me nuts.

There is a lot of backstory for the characters which could be minimised in the movies. But not too much.

I loved Wastelands - so much good stuff.

I wonder if they would keep King as a character - interesting idea. Personally I did not have a problem with it as others did. I believed he handled it masterfully.

I think, Mr Darth, that Eddie and Suze got together for a few reasons. For a start, she was the only woman around and we're talking extraordinary circumstances so that could have "changed" things.

As for King? Hm. It was handled a lot better than I thought it'd be, and in the film/TV show it could easily be a cameo/small part for him, similar to how Stan Lee is in most Marvel films.

I recently read and reviewed the penultimate book in the Dark Tower series, Song of Susannah. This was probably my least favorite novel in the series. I think I expected the next to last book in the series to be more exciting, instead it was mostly frustrating.

The cliffhanger ending was frustrating, but mostly because nothing really got accomplished during the course of this novel. Aside from the glorious gun battle, this book was a bit short on interesting moments.

Hoping the final novel does justice to the rest of the series...

Just to let in on some news that I just recently overheard....Dark Tower VII is NOT the last book!!!

Stephen King is on the trail of writing an 8th book to this series...Yes, you heard me!

A customer had recently been into the store where I work(chapters bookstore) and asked me if i knew about the 8th book?? I said there is no 8th book, that the series ended at 7. After our conversation, I decided to go and google this little tidbit of info. And low and behold, there is a write-up about him in the process of going to write an 8th book!!

Maybe you can find this article and scoop it up to show all here at SFF!!:)

The 7th book is, chronologically, the final one.

The 8th, I believe, will fit in between 4 and 5 (Or is it 3 and 4?) in terms of chronology and nothing much is known about it - At least to my knowledge.

Aw Geez, for real? I don't know how I feel about authors adding new material to a series after it is "finished". I sort of feel like they are trying to milk me for more of my money.

sorry!

I believed I was right, but just read an article agreeing with Cheerwell that it will be between books!

Strange. I just don't see where King fits in another book. There isn't much space between the end of one novel and the start of the next. In some cases there is no space at all, and the next installment picks up immediately after the events of the previous book.

Maybe things'll become more clear once King starts writing the book.

I think it's going to be like the comics and #4, C Blues.

The only things we really know are:
Roland won't be the main focus, but he and Cuthbert are going to be in it, so that's hinting to a prequel.

Ah, I see, that would make more sense.

Have you read the whole series Cheerwell?

All but the graphics and the short story in Legends (Been meaning to get around to both).

This sounds like possibly prequel/back story. Remember there are references to things about this past that really weren't covered after Wizard and Glass.

(I don't know how to use spoiler tags lol)

"Cuthbert always laughed, he went to death laughing"

Things like that.
