Hi everyone! Big thanks to SFFWorld for allowing this promotion zone. I am currently attempting to publish my first novel, and I need all the help I can get.

Dax Harrison is the title and the hero of my sci-fi adventure comedy you can find at Inkshares.com. If you're not familiar, Inkshares is a sort of Kickstarter for books. I need to make enough pre-orders by the end of the campaign (December 27th) in order to get published.

What's it about?
Commander Dax Harrison is a reluctant hero who is essentially one-part Ash Williams (Evil Dead) and one-part Zapp Brannigan (Futurama). He's known as a legendary soldier who defeated an invading alien force in all-out war which ended a decade ago. But not everyone believes the tales. Furthermore, the legends surrounding Dax have grown in the public eye due to movies, pulp novels and other media embellishing his exploits. Ten years after the war, we catch up with Dax as he coasts toward retirement and lives not-so-humbly off his fame. But a dangerous shadow from the past emerges, and he is finally forced to live up to his name, whether he likes it or not.
What does it read like?
Firefly/Serenity, Guardians of the Galaxy, Galaxy Quest
Why are you listing movies and not books?
To be honest, this is my first foray into novel writing. Dax was originally drafted as a screenplay, and I have since been adapting it to novelization. I can't promise you Shakespeare. But I can promise you characters you'll care about (which in my opinion is of utmost importance in all storytelling mediums), as well as a fast-paced, action-packed adventure. And laughs. There are laughs.
How much does the book cost?
Inkshares set the price at $10 for ebook, or $20 for an ebook & paperback bundle. HOWEVER, they give new members an instant $5 credit for joining the site, and another $5 credit for recommending the book to others using the "Recommend Via Inkshares" feature. You could literally pre-order the ebook for free, or the paperback bundle for half-off! Either way, it still helps me toward my publishing goal. :)
I'm still not convinced. Convince me further.
Click HERE to go to the book project page on Inkshares. All the info is there, including a silly video of me explaining the whole thing, as well as some sample chapters to read.

Cheers,
Tony
