Hello all!

Quick question, I read the Painted Man (Warded Man) some time ago, and I don't ever recall Ahmann Jardir being in it. But, on the jacket of the second book, it states that Jardir and Warded man were great friends once.

I don't remember this story thread in the first book.

Quick question, I read the Painted Man (Warded Man) some time ago, and I don't ever recall Ahmann Jardir being in it. But, on the jacket of the second book, it states that Jardir and Warded man were great friends once.

Seems like ages since I read these books...so wouldn't bet my life on my recall.

But my memory of it is that Jardir did appear in first book, but not as a major character. Think Arlen had gone to city where men went out at night to fight demons as part of his quest to learn how to oppose demons.

While there he found the warded spear. Jardir..claiming the spear was sacred to his people and must not go to an outsider..betrayed Arlen and took the spear. Deliberately left Arlen in a darn sticky situation..but he got out of it, and went on to ward his own body, using the designs on the spear.
