Fantasy / Horror Reading in October 2015

My word

After 25% I can't say I am enjoying it at all. I see what he's going for but it's just not my kind of story unfortunately. Fortunately my beta read came out far more enjoyable than I'd hoped.

Now onto the latest book in the Saxon Chronicles!

Shame, though I can see where and why you might put it aside, it does jump from character to character. I'm now around 60% through it and glad his writing allowed me to stick with it. An undead Gorlem with more manners than Latimer (Tea and Jeopardy) was a nice touch.

Just finished Lovecraft's "At the Mountains of Madness and other tales of terror". While I enjoyed them overall (this was my first exp with Lovecraft) I mostly have to say this - GODS, THIS MAN WAS A RACIST!.....

There. Now that I vented this, I'm going into Malazan, Numero 3 - Memories of Ice. :p

That's the trouble with some of the older authors. In their century, racism was rife. Their attitudes towards women weren't very nice either.

Yeah, no, I get it, I'm not blaming the guy. But it's just hard to read, you know? Especially with his love for colorful adjectives - it feels like he's one step away from calling them elves and orcs... :P

Haha! Yeah, I see what you're saying. Can't disagree.
