Fred Brown's 'What Mad Universe?'

Has anyone else stumbled across this ancient classic?

Pulp-SF at its finest: bug-eyed monsters, parallel universes, nerve-jangling paranoia, lusty femme-fatales, a wondrous future cityscape with a superb (if a touch clichéd) plot thrown in for good measure.

They don't make 'em like this any more.

Straight into my top 25 SF works of all time!

Fredric Brown's one of my favorites. I have that book but haven't read it yet. It's a really tattered paperback and I'll have to tape each page as I read it.

Did you know about the short SF collection "From These Ashes"? What a great idea, putting those stories together.

Did you know about the short SF collection "From These Ashes"? What a great idea, putting those stories together.

Never come across it AP, difficult to pick up such items without dropping lucky in a second-hand bookstore.

Here ye go, Mugwump - it's Nesfa press, small printing but good quality printing and stuff. Details here. Been fancying this one myself for a while actually. It is a big book. I'm sure if you look around, people like Neil at Clarkesworld could sort you out.

Everybody who is interested in the history of science fiction should read Fredric Brown. He wrote some of the best and funniest science fiction stories ever. So go and find all his books , you won't be dissappointed. His short story "Arena" was the inspiration for a famous Star Trek episode.
