HBO True Blood - Based on Sookie Stackhouse books

Thanks, Eldanuumea. The books seem like they're pretty interesting, so maybe someday I'll give them a try.

Rob, Lafayette is also one my favorite characters. His cousin, Tara, is fun to watch, too. She never fails at saying something that makes me laugh.

All this talk has gotten me looking forward to Sunday night!

Hey, remind me never to attack Big vampire with a little cross, it seems to produce negative results.:D:D

I can't believe that guy was stupid enough to think that would kill Eric!
I can't wait till the next episode.

Definitely read the books, people. Harris spins a good yarn, and her setting is cool.....of course, I am from Louisiana. lol

My wife finally caught up with the first episode and like Eld, she couldn't get over Eric killing the redneck with the highlighting foils in his hair. It was a priceless juxtaposition scene.

I'm assuming they are in the basement of Fangtasia?

I was told about this series from a coworker (since I'm a Twilighter, he thought I would like True Blood as well) and I was able to watch the last 3 episodes of Season 1 and the 1st episode of Season 2 on On Demand and I loved it. I haven't read the books so I don't have any preconcieved notions. I also consider LaFayette one of my favorite characters. Tara makes me laugh also. I like Bill as well. I will definitely be watching this entire season.

They are in the basement of Fangtasia, and that scene is priceless.
We are eagerly awaiting tonight's episode.
DeeDee's websites are experiencing server problems because of a sudden sharp upswing in hits. Her ericnorthman.net and paulbettany.net have been receiving tens of thousands of hits each day, as interest spikes in True Blood and the Twilight movie to come. (Bettany is in a film with one of the Twilight film characters.)

She needs a dedicated server, but she discovered it would cost about 200 bucks a month, and that's out of the question!

Don't stop visiting her sites......I am sure the flareup of interest will back off.

Tell you what, though...Eric is such an important, dynamic character, it's amazing what appearing in the last three minutes has done for his fansites. LOL

Thoise unfamiliar with the books may be wondering what the Ercic-fuss is all about. All I can say is - read the books!

Hey, who thinks Eric is going to turn LaFayette into a Vampire?

Hey, who thinks Eric is going to turn LaFayette into a Vampire?

I do, if only out of curiosity. That would be so cool and I thought LaFayette's arguments were pretty convincing LOL.

Most of the direction of things is pretty easy to figure out if you've got any experience with World of Darkness. I don't know if Charlaine Harris is a fan of White Wolf, I wouldn't accuse her of plagiarism by any means by there are a lot of parallel ideas/ themes.

My girlfriend is a total junkie for the books, she can't keep herself from throwing me out spoilers about them if she thinks they've changed the show enough they aren't going to go that route, so I do have some notion about where Eric is headed or supposed to be headed. he's all right but he sort of euro-trash douchebaggish for me. So far Bill is the only vampire I really like, ever since Sam threw it out that there are werewolves I keep praying a pack will roll into town and do what werewolves do best, wreak total havoc on vampires. That is absolutely my World of Darkness past experiences speaking, I was always more into ultra-violent werewolves than snobby vampires. If Harris' werecritters are anything like WoD the only one with a chance of surviving probably would be Eric, so that might make you fans happy.

Okay I'm going to stop throwing out my WoD prejudices and stuff and say that I really enjoy the hell out of this show. I hope they give the guy who plays Jason an award at some point, the guy is brilliant at playing a moron. the whole cast is great, Tara is probably my favourite character which is interesting since I hear she's barely in the books. I'm all for changing the story of books in an adaptation if it makes the story better, and sometimes it really does. I would therefore advise any of the book fans that are bummed out to be patient, and that's what Allan Bell (Ball?) has been saying too.

Haven't read the books yet, but ended up watching the entire first season while looking after a friend's house.

Pretty good, actually, and Anna Paquin is gorgeous.

Isn't she, though?
I am more and more impressed by Lafayette's acting (Ellis).

The official HBO True Blood site has a link to a Twitter-Fic that my daughter and others do......if you go to the site and click fans and scroll, you'll see HBO has links to several such places. I won't tell you which character my daughter plays.....(top secret).......except that she is not Sookie.
Merlotte's and Fangtasia are alive and kicking most nights at their True Blood Twitter-Fic.

Well that sucks!! Watched episode 3 and LaFayette is not going to jion the undead as we had hoped.

I'm starting to get a little annoyed by Sookie, she comes across as very self-righteous and for lack of a better word, hard on Bill.

Sookie in the books is extremely different.....not at all bitchy or whiny.
Sookie would never have slapped Eric, and she would never have demanded money.

About the driveway mention.....
Eric asks Sookie why her driveway is in such bad shape. She explains she is relatively poor and missing work for vamp business. Eric asks why Bill doesn't spend money on her, and she explains that Bill has been giving to his discovered descendents, the Bellefleurs.
Plus, she explains she would never ask for money because it would make her feel "kept."
Eric redoes her driveway as a surprise gift.

Maybe their going to have him do the driveway anyway (since he obviously heard her say it to Bill and it would also show her that even Eric has a good side to him) and explain then, why else would they even write it in the script. She could have just said she missed a lot of work.

I am very aggravated, my first Sunday home since the week before season two started and no episode last night. what a pain.

SPOILERS

I'm starting to get a little annoyed by Sookie, she comes across as very self-righteous and for lack of a better word, hard on Bill.

Well, that's because in the t.v. series, Bill is much smarter, nobler, braver and nicer than he is in the books. :) All these fans swooning over him, I have to giggle, because Harris makes him quite unlikable in the series and Sookie breaks up with him and takes up with other love interests. He does not save her in the first book, like he does in the first season of the series. I'm kind of curious to see how they handle the breaking up parts in the series, as they are still sort of using the books as a half-blueprint.

And Sookie is tougher than she is in the books, I agree, El, though in the books, she does speak out toward Eric a fair amount. She's a better detective in the books than they bother with in the t.v. series. Eric is also a rather different character than in the books, and of course in the books Lafayette is dead. I don't mind that change though. I think it's kind of more interesting that he's not a vampire.

I don't agree I think it would have been better if Lafayette had been turned into a vampire, because it would off given us a better look into the shows supernatural world.

I agree that Lafayette becoming a vampire would be very interesting (as long as he keeps his personality) and it still could happen. From the previews, it seems like Eric is stalking him so maybe he got intrigued by Lafayette saying he would be His vampire. I guess we will just have to wait and see!!
