So far, I haven't heard anyone mention this new comic based on the George R. R. Martin short story from 'Legends'. I believe it's going to be something like a five issue mini-series.

Issue 1 has just appeared on shelves here. I must confess that I haven't actually read that particular short story (novella?), so I have no idea how faithful this is.

Quite interesting to see how the artists have realised Martin's feudal world. Lots of rippling muscle and penants fluttering in the breeze....

What think ye?

Well. they've got the full endorsement of GRRM - as mentioned on his webpage so I guess it follows the story pretty carefully.

The original story is in Legends I and about to be published in his retrospective.

Bought the first part this wednesday, and I can say it's damn good. Really looking forward to the rest of the issues.

Artwork is beautiful. Dunk comes across as being a bit smarter when some of the descriptions are in his head though.

I got the second issue today. Quality remains superb! I'm really appreciating the artist's work, the facial expressions are perfect. That arsehole prince practically oozes Snob.

Shoot, I didn't realize it was going to be a series. I thought it was one book.

Phooey. I have the first one because my daughter picked it up when she was in Seattle, but it might not be so easy to get the rest of them.

Maybe I'll wait for the trade. There *will* be a trade, won't there?

I'm a bit confused as what you mean AuntiePam so the explanation might be a bit long and overexplanatory (is that a word?). Sorry for that :)

It's a comic book adaptation of The Hedge Knight novel in 6 parts. Parts 1 and 2 are out (at least here in Sweden, the US might have gotten more).

Don't know what you mean by a trade edition since we're talking about a comic book, they might release the whole thing in one book when the series is finished, if that is what you mean.

Right, that's what I meant by trade edition -- a reissue in one volume.

It's a great story. I guess I should have figured they wouldn't be able to do it all in one small comic.

Thanks for the response. :)
