yes it is a uk book club order but where i live there is only a W H Smiths and it can take weeks to get a book they dont have a very wide selection on fantasy there is a few second hand book stalls on the market but when they do have fantasy books they never have the full series that leaves me with the book club or ordering over the net

The good thing(and maybe the ONLY good thing) about the Book Club is that they do have those Omnibuses of older series. You can get them fairly cheap.

My latest order from Amazon (USA) has come in:

The Devil You Know by Poppy Z. Brite, HC. I got this through the used partners, but it was not used. It was at a significant discount though cause from the publisher/amazon this is one of the $40.00 books.

The Golden Deer of Eurasia Edited by Jean Aruz, from the Metropolitan Museum of Art, HC. An art book about the artifacts of the Scythians and other horse nomads on the steppes of Eurasia.

Spending more on CDs than books at the moment, bought Ben Harper and Tom McRae... Awesome.
 
I had just started getting into fantasy last summer, but took a major dive into it recently. I have one sci-fi book to read first, but along with that I just bought "Briar King", "The Darkness That Comes Before", "Medalon", and "The Knight". Looking forward to some good reading.

Just bought the last 4 books of Erikson's since I liked GotM, for 44 pounds. Which is like $81. You Brits are really pricey, curses on you.
 
I have just bought The Treasured One David & Liegh Eddings and from a car book sale The Worm Ouroboros E.R.Eddison and a couple of Elizabeth Moon books .
 
Just been to the local Waterstones and bought 'Wild Magic' by Jude Fisher and 'Fool's Fate' by Robin Hobb, fingers crossed that they will be as good as the previous stories in their relative series.

I didn't know thaty Jude Fisher had the second book out and from what I have heard,continiously, that Hobb's Tawny Man trilogy just gets better by each new book.
 
My latest finds from Amazon (USA) arrived in the mail:

Irrational Fears by William Browning Spencer, HC. It is out of print, and though I got it through the Amazon/Used Partners - the book was actually new, and at a really good price.

Bijapur by Kara Dalkey, HC. The second book in the Blood Goddess Trilogy, it is also out of print, and was a new book.
 
I just bought The Briar King by Keyes. Lately I've avoided starting series that aren't finished, but its been such a long time since I've read an epic fantasy series, I just couldn't resist.

I'm about 60 pages in right now and I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Keyes isn't the greatest writer in the world, but his world and his characters come to life.
 
I went to my local used bookstore, The Hutton Bookhouse, recently, which has a truly kickass sf/fantasy section, and picked up "Tarzan of the Apes" and "A Princess of Mars" by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Also, in their horror section, I picked up "Descent" by Jeff Long, which by the synopsis I can tell I'll really like since I enjoy archeological thrillers!

As far as more "mainstream" authors go, Jeff Long is one of my favorite. He reminds me a lot of Michael Crichton, though I think he is a much better writer and stylist. The Descent is a great book, my favorite of his.

If you like archeological thriller writers like Michael Crichton, Camrick, then you should definitely check out James Rollins. My sister introduced me to his books and they're abosolutely awesome, IMO! They're a lot like a mixture between Indiana Jones and Jurassic Park. So far I've read his first two books, "Subterranean" and "Excavation", and I really enjoyed them. So far he's released six books: "Subterranean", "Excavation", "Deep Fathom", "Amazonia", "Ice Hunt", and his newest release this year, "Sandstorm".

Oh, and by the way, is that a little cartoon figure of Christ you have for your avatar there? :rolleyes:
