Recently picked up

Peridido Street Station by China Meilville (I know I butchered both the title and the author's name there!)

Dhalgren - Delaney (I have to see what the fuss is about)

I couldn't resist...

I was at Borders Books and knew I was in trouble. I couldn't seem to not pick up Robert Asprin's Something M.Y.T.H. I.N.C.. It would have been alright , if I could have stopped with the one book, but no... I had to get another. So I got James Morrow's City of Truth at least it is short novel.

Okay, only two, that's not so bad, BUT... After hearing and nearing about how God Wonderful Mathew Woodring Stover was, I got Heroes Die ! So if this book isn't any good, I'm going to..um.. well, I'm going to do SOMETHING!Hmmph!

Never fear....you'll not be disappointed. At least, I can't remember anyone who has said they were disappointed in this one.

And I'm currently cold turkey...haven't bought a book since last Saturday...five whole days........

Erfael: Hi.

The group: Hi.

Erf: I'm 5 days sober, but it's been hard. I used to have this constant urge to buy books. Buy,buy BUY! But since joining BA, I think that I have my problem licked.

But it was so bad! I bought and bought, but nothing seemed to satisfy my craving for more books to buy. I sold my car, my children, other people's children to feed my habit. Thank GAWD! I found you wonderful people here at BA! I..I *sniffsniff!*

Group Leader: That's ok, Erfael. Bogranak, come give Erfael a hug.

I love this thread

Oh I see I'm going to fit in just fine here :D :D Let's see, I read about 3 books/month and buy....erm, let's just say I place an amazon order every 4-5 days, and that doesn't count my indies purchases! (be good now, that's 'indies' purchases ;) )

She said "indies"! heehehe...um that's not funny or even slightly rude.

* note to self: Must read posts more carefully.

Yoohoo Leiali just for you I only have 4 books to list, quick post something next ;) :

I got my latest order in from Amazon (usa). I have been getting the 'used' copies of books that are out of print, or won't be going into paperback. Suprisingly most have been new, but I got them at almost paperback prices - go figure

The Value of X by Poppy Z. Brite, HC
Daylight by Elizabeth Knox, ARC
The Astonished Eye by Tracy Knight, ARC
Spartan by Valerio Massimo Manfredi, UK-PB
I ordered this from a book seller in the UK who listed on the US site of Amazon, and they shipped it to me from Sweden ?

Priest, I fell off the wagon...

Went into the local B&N just to pick up the newest issue of Parabola, but it wasn't there yet...while I was there, I found on the bargain table:

Hearts in Atlantis HC, King
The Other Wind HC, Le Guin

How can one argue with 2 HCs for 10 bucks?

You know, there should be some type of Federal Program for people who are addicted to buying books. Really, there should. ;)

From the last two weeks

I had read these from the Library while staying in Australia, and wanted copies of my own: Waterborn, Blackgod (Keyes). The One Kingdom, Isle of Battle (Russell)

I preordered these 3 books: Sean Russell "The Shadow Roads" (Swan's War book 3), "A Feast for Crows" GRRM (book 4), and while not totally a fantasy book, I am anxiously awaiting my copy of "Bone One Volume TPB" (all 1,600 pgs!) by Jeff Smith.

And purchased these yet unread books:
"Elves and the Otterskin" Elizabeth Boyer
"Forge in the Forest" Michael Rohan
"The Stroyteller and the Jann" Stephen Goldin
"Treachery of the Demon King" Stephen Goldin

Thank God for Amazon...

Best,
Joe

Joe, Bone by Jeff Smith is TOTALLY a fantasy. A wonderful impish, charming abd heart-felt fantasy. Don't let the cartoony drawings fool you. I'd even go as far as to say that it is an Epic Fantasy.

* 1 of: His Dark Materials Trilogy: "Northern Lights", "The Subtle Knife", "The Amber Spyglass" (His Dark Materials S.)

Nice list Drakonslair . There are more than a couple on your list that I'll be forking out for soon myself !
Today I picked up a copy of Clive Barker's Weaveworld , heard good things about it . Also I bought The Odyssey By Homer .

I received some goodies from Amazon today....Three books by Jennifer Fallon...the Lions of Senet I believe the title is, I thought I would give them a go as they have been mentioned here a few times. I also got a Sharon Shinn book I had never heard of, forget its name but I think it may be a young adult book :( Still, Summers at Castle Auburn was too and I liked that, so we'll see. I also got into a bit of a muddle and intended to buy books by Michelle West (again because of praise) but ended up with two books by Martha Wells. That goes to show what a bad memory can do.... :o

I just bought The Isle of Battle by Sean Russel. This author is worth checking out.

I recently picked up "The Dark Half" by Stephen King and "Necroscope" by Brian Lumley.

I remember reading "Necroscope" several years ago. It has a neat take on vampires and the Necroscope character is pretty cool, but the novels following aren't as good.

I also went to my local Waldenbooks this evening, since I received a Preferred Reader Certificate in the mail, and picked up the final installment in Elizabeth Haydon's "Symphony of the Ages Trilogy", "Destiny". I have a question though, if Haydon's Symphony of the Ages is a trilogy and not a series, are her new "Requiem for the Sun" and upcoming "Elegy for a Lost Star" a new trilogy or a spinoff?

I just have to share my good fortune. I'm a Brust fan and his older books are quite hard to find here. I've been reading the Vlad Taltos series through the library. Last week I noticed that they had removed the first collected book from the stands. I rushed to see if it would be in the pile where the old books are sold and there it was! The Book of Jherek which contains the three first books in the series for just 1, 50 euros! Unbelievable but true! It isn't even damaged.
