Bought Gaiman's Coraline two days ago. Unfortunately a paperback edition without the cool cover and the illustrations inside . . . :( But cheaper anyway. :)

Ordered Bellwether and Doomsday Book by Connie Willis, Ash by Gentle and The Bone Doll's Twin by Flewelling - they will arrive within the next five days.
And I ordered Dawnthief by Barclay which hopefully will arrive this week as well.

So far this month I've picked up:

Matthew Woodring Stover - Traitor
R.A. Salvatore - Sea of Swords
David Drake - Mistress of the Catacombs
Thomas Harlan - The Shadow of Ararat and The Storm of Heaven

Still have these to buy in Aug:

Mickey Zucker Reichert - THe Beasts of Barachai
Weis/Hickman - Guardians of the Lost
Herbert/Anderson - House Corino
King/Straub - The Black House

And only 2 so far for Sept:

David Farland - Wizardborn
James Barclay - Nightchild

Got all my ordered books. :)

Now I am waiting for my free German edition of Taltos by Steven Brust. :D

This is awful (i'm ashamed!) - i was in Waterstones for literally 5 minutes the other day, and i honestly didn't intend to buy a thing when i went in - i came out with "The Paradise War" by Stephen Lawhead, Sean Russell's "The One Kingdom", the 2nd Wot bk, and the 1st MS&T bk.

£28!!!

I honestly don't know what possessed me - i KNOW my bookclub has the Lawhead books at least. I must be mad to pay high street prices! *shudder*

'Tis like the siren's call, Sammie - I'm pleased it doesn't just happen to me!

Beware the lure of ye old Waterstones, for they attract you with their bright lights and shelves of books..... :)

Not a bad selection, though.

Bright lights.....shelves of books..........large comfy window seats where you can have a leisurely browse.......and a fantasy selection that (for once) is picked out by someone who actually reads the genre........i hate my local Waterstones!

Hobbit - how do you resist the lure of shiny new books???

*looks at bank statement*
*looks at credit card statement*

The easy solution is.....

...don't go shopping;
...don't take money or plastic with you....

Erm.... it is difficult.......and then you've got book clubs and the Internet which mean that you can shop WITHOUT LEAVING HOME.... :D

...not to mention people here who suggest lots of 'good stuff'....

*sigh*

Well I just bought a truckload. I did'nt mean to...
The Baker's Boy by J V Jones
A Case of Conscience by Blish
Day of the Triffids and Trouble with Lichen by Wyndham
Ship of Magic by Hobb
Flowers for Algenon by someguy
Crash and Empire of the Sun by Ballard
Orphans of the Sky by RAH
Anyhow, that's alot of reading for me now since I'm going back to work tommorow.

I just got this novel The Stone Mage & The Sea by a fellow called Shaun Williams. Wasn't really expecting too muhc but it surprised me by being really, really good.

Alos bought this poetry book, Goddess Of Mercy by S K Kelen (it's not fantasy but I found it all really interesting and multifaceted).
Well, that's all, dwindling funds make me depressed, no more books til October.

chocky -

Flowers for Algenon by someguy

I didn't know he wrote books on this forum... :)

Actually the name you need is Daniel Keyes, and a very good (but very sad) book it is too.

The rest of the list chocky is very good too (and should keep even you busy for, about 48 hours or so :D ) I've read all there except Empire of the Sun (though I don't think I finished Crash, either...)

Gagged Man - the only Sean Williams I know is a recent one called Echoes of Earth - space opera stuff and not bad. As yours is Shaun Williams, it's not one I know - please tell! Don't think it's available in the UK.

Aaarrrggggghhhh

Just.....can't........stop......buying.......books!

Ordered the 3rd WoT from amazon :(

Damn their easy "1 click" ordering........

Sammie why agonize? Just give in and order up to book five of WoT. You'll save time since you'll likely buy them anyway if you already have the first two. That way you can dispense with the waiting and anticipation nagging at you. Perhaps I should recommend only up to book four, but considering the cliffhanger ending to that one you'll want to find out immediately what comes next and book five isn't bad. :)

:D

How's that for sublimal messaging?

You....will.....buy......books.....even....if.....you....never....get
......chance.....to.....read.....them.....

;)

Hobbit,

You mean people don't do that on purpose ?? :D

I still have 4 books to pick up this month, they should be out in stores tomorrow. And, as luck would have it, I received a $25 Gift Cert @ Chapters... and also did some computer work on the side and have an extra $100 or so :) Guess I'll try to buy the new releases and some of my built up to-buy list books...

That's the power of advertising! :)

Darth - whatcha getting?

*being nosy*

Keep your filthy little grubby nose outta my helmet! ...errr is this thing live? *Tap* *Tap* ... oops :D

Hrmmm I have 3 that should be out this week or next...

Guardians of the Lost - Weiss & Hickman
House Corrino - Herbert & Anderson
The Black House - King & Straub

(week of the colaborations it seems)

Other stuff that might make it into my hands would be :

The Beasts of Barakhai - Mickey Zucker Reichert
Lord of Emperors - GG Kay
Newton’s Canon - J. Gregory Keyes
A Calculus of Angels - J. Gregory Keyes
Empire of UnreasonJ. Gregory Keyes

And of course 2 good looking books as early as next week :

Wizardborn - David Farland
Nightchild - NOM (James Barclay)

Sammie why agonize? Just give in and order up to book five of WoT.

Damn, I'm scared now - this is what i did! I noticed book 4 takes longer to come than book 3, so i thought i'd order it in advance - and then amazon pointed out that it's cheaper on p&p if i get my books at the same time, rather than seperately - I figured i'd end up getting bk 5 eventually anyway, so i ordered it to come with bk 4. I am SO SCREWED now if i hate book 3!!!!

Well usually after provoking such a reaction I'd be worried but we're talking about the best books of my favorite fantasy soap opera so I won't :)

As long as you liked The Great Hunt and political intrigue I don't see how you can be disappointed. (crosses fingers) :D

The scary thing, Bond, is i did it BEFORE i saw your post!

Well, i loved bk 2, so it should be ok...but this book buying thing is out of control. The entire top shelf of my bookcase is stuff i haven't read yet....and yet i continue to buy!

Somebody stop me.....!!!!!!!!!!!!

mmmm...the last book I bought was (wait for it)

Microsoft .NET programming!!!!

what a thriller! And if you think that it doesnt belong in Fantasy, consider how much of a fantasy it is that I will actually get through it!!!!!!!
