I would like to see HBO and Netflix make their own Mass Effect style space operas

I think The Orville looks ridiculous with it's brightly colored jump suits and The Expanse is dark, depressing, and boring most of the time. Strange since I enjoyed the novels.

Why is it so hard to make a good space opera?

No other space opera universe has sucked me in like the Mass Effect universe. I loved the game's universe, aesthetic, and characters.

What does Mass Effect have that The Orville and The Expanse lacks?

I would like to see HBO and Netflix try to get TV viewers excited for the future of humanity by giving us their own Mass Effect style space operas. I have seen people who are normally not into fantasy eat Game of Thrones up. How can we replicate that with spaceships and futuristic technology?

What kind of space opera stories, characters, and universe should Netflix and HBO create?

Would including aliens alienate the mainstream TV viewer? No pun intended.

What kind of space opera do we need?

Yeah, I'd love to see a series based on the Mass Effect Universe! :D

Star Trek: TNG had a good run. I like Orville, especially the second season. Its just fun. Babylon 5 was kinda okay...then there was Farscape, which I liked :)

There are many space opera themed anime. Macross/Robotech, Crest of the Stars, Captain Harlock I found exemplary. But anime isn't everyone's cup of tea.

We need the kind of space opera that would engender hope in mankind's possible future beyond this planet. And the possibility of connecting with other life and civilizations beyond our own. There's too many tv series based on the zombie apocalypse or a post apocalyptic world. Does it reflect our bleak outlook for the future of humanity? :(
