Hello SFF! This forum was suggested to me by a friend, and I thought I'd give it a look. I have some art and literature to post, which I hope to get to soon. And of course I'll be commenting on all your works too!

Hey everyone!

Hey everyone. My name's Tantz Aerine and I am a fantasy author. Or at least, I have just officially become one, as the first book of my trilogy has just been published.

I am Greek-Canadian, and I live in Greece... so I don't have the chance to link to many of my peers, therefore now (that I feel ...authorish, finally :D ) I am trying to get to meet as many people who share my passion for fantasy (and do not consider it only for kids).

I would also like to share (and get opinions on) my book, but where can I talk about that without it being considered spamming or something??

And could someone tell me how to get a blog, perhaps??

Hi Stranger, welcome

Hi Tantz Aerine, welcome. If you PM one of the Mods they will be able to help you, very clever people those. :D

Thanks zorobnice! I am still learning the ropes here. All help is duly noted and appreciated. :)

Generalley you will find folk here very helpful, so enjoy it and ask away.

Greetings all,

You can guess my age from my user title (courtesy of Aldiss)....I've been reading SF and fantasy for about half a century. In my youth I used to absorb it at a huge rate, but now I'm lucky if I get though one novel a month, partly because they tend to be so long these days!

My main interest is in the history of military technology, and I've written or co-authored several books on the subject under my formal name Anthony G Williams (as you can see on my website). However, a couple of years ago I published a time-travelling novel - The Foresight War - about what might happen if present-day British and German historians woke up in 1934. I've just finished my second novel, Scales (which I hope will come out early next year) which I might loosely describe as a present-day, parallel world, SF environmental thriller (without giving too much away :) ).

I'm pleased I found this site, some great discussions going on about a good mix of old and new books, and it is inspiring me to revisit some of the dusty old novels on my shelves!

Welcome Mr. Williams!! I hope that you enjoy it here (I am sure that you will). :D

Just joined, having seen this place via google once or twice in the past.

I have embarked upon a project to pretty much try and remember everything I have ever read, genrewise, catalogue it and then rate it, before I get too old to remember. Likely to take me a couple of years, I think.

Then to break it up :

http://freesf.blogspot.com - Free SF Reader - Free SF Fiction Ratings

also have a thing for superhero and related type stuff, in prose :-

http://superprose.blogspot.com - Super Reader - Superhero Prose Fiction List

(and if anyone has anything relevant to suggest, that is great - see list on bottom right)

Anyway, I am an SF geek for sure.

What I have to get to, not counting comics, magazines, unread super stuff etc. is here Blue Tyson - librarything

Librarything is cool for book geeks, too. If you haven't check it out, have a look.

Guess I can copy this from the blog, too.

Uh, am I supposed to post here?

I'm Adam. I joined a few weeks ago, and Haven't really gotten on here much until now, it seems. I've been reading Science Fiction and Fantasy since fifth grade. I write stories occasionally, mostly for my friends, but someday I want to publish stories. I'm a grad student getting an MA in English. I like a lot of stuff. That's about it.

Hello there, magicshomonkey. And Hello to everyone else as well!

I joined about a week ago and have popped in every now and then to read through threads and do some lurking before posting. These forums seem like a good fit for me. Truthfully, I spend most of my time at one of the first forums I ever joined, which is a Dean Koontz Forum where I've met a lot of great people. But I've been looking to branch out as my reading always has done.

I've done a lot of science fiction reading, and some horror (Koontz isn't really horror anymore, at least not in the traditional sense), but never really any fantasy. The closest I've gotten to fantasy was Tad Williams' great OTHERLAND series. But I have just picked up a copy of A GAME OF THRONES and plan on reading it soon.

Anyway, it's nice to be here. Cheers, Everyone!

  You haven't really read any fantasy... were you stuck in a hole and couldn't get out? :D :p j/k Anyway, welcome WhiteWolf and magicshomonkey! I like your names by the way.

Yes, I suppose you could say I was stuck in a hole when it comes to fantasy reading, which isn't to say that I haven't enjoyed some great reading over the years. But I plan on correcting that. I bought A GAME OF THRONES by George R.R. Martin after not being able to go anywhere and not hear about his A SONG OF ICE AND FIRE books.

Right now, however, I've just started reading HYPERION, by Dan Simmons. Only 60+ pages in and I can already tell it's going to be great.

Hey!!!

I've already posted a few messages but...
HI ANYWAY!!!!!!!!!!! LOL!!!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

My name's Ahmed and I'm glad to be here. If there's anything you need to know about me, feel free to ask. You do have my profile for some brie info, but of course it's up to you to decide. Hehehe

Well, I'll see ya 'round
