Imposible not to

Hello there, my name is Bent, I know its difficult to be the new kid but I need some place to discuss and say stuff and I told myself: "Thats what forums are about right?", so then I picked some forums that sounded interested, choose carefully which one would fit my needs best -at random-, and finally decided to post here. I hope things go okay for both of us. Be gentle please.

Hi, New Kid . Be Welcomed by Europe. This is very friendly Forum with very intelligent and very well-read folks from very All Over the World.

Introduction: Hello, I'm Matt Browne

I was looking for an "Introduction" sub-forum, but couldn't find one.

I'm new around here and just wanted to say hello...

Enjoy your Sunday!

Welcome!

I've only been here for a short while myself, and i'm already lovin' this place.

I'm sure ya'll will feel the same way, great people here!:)

Glad you're back, Colossus! I just recently joined the group myself.

Ever read a Sci-fi book called Colossus? It's about a defense dept. super-computer that develops one heckofa ego and takes over the world.

Interesting how many predictions made in Sci-fi literature and films have already transpired into reality, or are about to. Just look at Arthur C. Clarke's predictions about communications satellites in GEO synch orbit. Nearly the last two generations have taken them for granted.
And now the concept behind the Sci-fi novel Sunstroke, written by David Kagan, is about to materialize into reality. A dual-purpose satellite that converts sunlight into high-intensity microwaves and beams them down to Earth for electricity--as well as for military weapons purposes-- is about to come true.
You can read about it in space.com's recent article here:?http://www.space.com/businesstechnology/070919_sps_airforce.html

David Kagan has a new novel coming out called Doomwatch, a really scary eco-disaster thriller that we all hope and pray won't come true.

Happy reading!

I'm back!!!!!!
Well, it's been 8 months since I've been here. A lot has happened to me in that short period of time. I am sorry I just "fell out of existance" like that but it was not by choice. In each life a little rain must fall. Well, anyway, hope you are all doing well.

Which was made into an OK movie called Colossus: The Forbin Project but avoid the sequel (The Fall of Colossus). It's terrible.

Edit: Apparently there is also a third book, called Colossus And The Crab - and talk of a remake of the original movie, gawdelpus!

Hello, my name is Legacyblade. I've never been published, but I've been playing around with Fantasy writing since age 11. I'm hoping this forum is as friendly, helpful, and easy to use as the ones I use for programing. Glad I found this site via google, and I hope to get to know this site very well.

Have to agree, I read The Fall of Colossus and was a bit disappointed. Jones's sequel wasn't up to the original but was still good entertainment.
Never could get ahold of Colossus And The Crab. However Colossus: The Forbin Project starring Eric Braeden and Sharon Acker ( Star Trek TOS, "Mark of Gideon") is a great Sci-fi film on its own and doesn't need to be remade. It's stimulating and frightening as is. Thanks.

Welcome to this great Forum

Hi Legacyblade, and a most warm welcome to the Forum.

I'm new here too, and really appreciate the great diversity of knowledge this site offers.

You know, you're way ahead of me. I didn't try my hand at writing fiction 'til high school, only after reading a good deal of Sci-fi novels and short stories. One of my most favorite fantasy novels was Lost Horizon written by James Hilton in 1933. A fabulous epic movie of the book was made starring Ronald Colman and Jane Wyatt (Mr. Spock's mother in Star Trek TV/movies).

Tell us what type of fantasy you are interested in, and what have you been writing? Short stories or novels?

Hey everyone, I'm pretty new here as well. I love fantasy and a bit of science fiction and one day hope to be able to write something successful.

I'm new here as well, hello to everyone. I'm generally a fantasy reader, but I like some science fiction as well, and mostly classic horror literature. Also read a lot of nonfiction and some general fiction as well.

Well I'm glad I'm not the only newbie writer here. I'm currently highschool age (though I am taking collage), but my writing gets me straight As (for one course, I just have to submit manuscript from my book rather than the actual assignment :D). Well I hope I learn alot from this forum, it seems pretty active!

To all new members: Lady Envy, antitoxidote, Legacyblade

Sure glad you joined this fabulous Forum. As a new member myself, I know how hard it is to find a really good place to post and interact with
intelligent individuals who appreciate science fiction/fantasy writing and literature.

I enjoy all kinds of Sci-fi, like Gordon Dickson's Pritcher Mass, hard Sci-fi as in Michael Crichton's The Andromeda Strain, also Arthur C. Clarke's many works, and Sunstroke by David Kagan. All are entertaining, educational, and thought-provoking.

Please tell us who your favorite authors are and their book titles. We're all looking forward to your future posts.
