I was wondering amidst all these discussions of Snape and Dumbledore if Snape could kill him at all?

Harry learns from Bellatrix(?) when he tries to use an unforgivable curse that you really have to mean it and from Moody that it's hard to cast the killing curse on a human. (Was easy for him on a spider)

This means that Snape had to be seriously after Dumbledore to make the killing curse work. I don't think it can be done to someone you like.

So either Snape is evil and it worked or Dumbledore is not dead.

It doesn't change much regarding the discussions but I believe the casting of spells are very important.

Snape could have easily killed dumbledore dumbledore may be a powerful wizard but he was severly weakened from drinking the potion that held the horcrux

Good point...
guys, if everything JKR has said is consistent, then Dumbledore is virtually defenceless without wands and some tapes over his mouth (I know that Dumbledore can do craps without saying latin words, but in that case trap Dumbledore with some radical illusions (sexual animating images) to catch Dumbledore while his concentration deludes).
As I recall yet again, no one's invincible. And everybody in every fiction dies somehow. . . (especially the so-called immortal antiheroes)

true-it always seems to be the tutor/mentor that dies anyway(Darren Shan/The Black Magician Trilogy/LOTR etc)

no, i was talking about antiheroes. . . You know, like those bad guys in Japanese Manga robot-combined craps? The antiheroes always die or lose somehow. . .

I definately agree with you, the specifics of spell casting seem to be very important. Do you think though that the Unbreakable Vow might somehow have forced Snape to do it with conviction? I hate to say it but I am quite sure and kind of hope that Dumbledore does not somehow miraculously survive, as this would very nearly tarnish the entire storyline of not being able to return from the dead.

whos to say it was snape at all????

did everyone forget about the polyjuice potion???

whos to say that some1 used the polyjuice potion on snape/dumblore or them both???

hence when whomever made the unbreakable vow it wasnt snape so....

and dumbledores not dead cuz it wasnt him

major coincidence.....but these are smart wizards:)

 homigawds! A board that discusses Harry Potter with actual sense rather than "Danielle Radcliffe is sooo hawt oh no do u think mebbe (insert name of completely obvious character here) will (insert name of completely obvious action here)"

Okay! I just had to get that out! Back on topic though these are both really interesting theories. I think The Unbreakable Vow could force Snape to do it with conviction as Neo said. I also have to agree with Neo on that I don't like the idea of Dumbledore somehow miraculously surviving and for the same reason given when Neo said it.

The polyjuice potion idea is interesting but I don't think it would fit into the story. Its been a while since I read any of the HP books though so I might be missing some points

::Edit:: Going on the idea of the polyjuice potion, maybe Dumbledore and Snape switched places?   I know completely unlikely but still ;) fun to think about.

as for who....im not entirely sure, could be any one of the death eaters for snape....and snape could dumbledore or any of the other teachers

you never know with JKR.....hmmmm

cant wait til that book comes out to find out...
