I've just bought.... (Fantasy, version VI)

I´m finally ready to get out and visit some new worlds so I just got:

Perdido Street Station by China Mieville
Among Thieves by Douglas Hulick
Mistborn: The Final Empire by Brandon Sanderson.

Now, I just have finish this week off at work so I can get on reading!

Just bought The Art of Blizzard, a massive and very cool artbook, and Seven Kings by John Fultz, the markedly improved second book in the series ( did not care for the first book but this is just better).

Glad to hear that Seven Kings is an improvement. John is a fellow Orbit author who debuted the same time as my books and has seemed to struggle because of the first. Out of curiosity, how did you know #2 was better before buying it?

  • Dreams and Shadows by C. Robert Cargill
  • Among Others by Jo Walton (This received limited hardcover release in the UK last year, but is only now being distributed more widely in Australia with a paperback edition from Corsair. I'm looking forwards to finally reading it.)

I read an excerpt of the first 3 chapters that really appealed to me. It seemed more interesting than book 1, and then some other reviews of the second book confirmed that that was the case for them. So I thought it would be worth a go. I do like this world that he has built up, with the giant races etc.

I bought Dreams and Shadows this week as well. Curious about that one, it could go either way, but the first chapter was just so beautifully written that I had to have it.

I just ordered Herald of the Storm by Richard Ford....was wanting to get Scull's Grim Company, but BD says its out of stock, and based on Liviu digging it, I'm gonna give it a shot...haven't got to read much lately and this looks exactly like what I need for a good fix! :cool:

Ok I ordered this last Sunday from Book Depository and it still hasn't shipped...they said in an email they trouble getting it in stock. Whats up with that? I believe everytime I've ordered from them I got the book in about 7 days, so its gonna be way over that by the time I get it, they claim today the 25th they'll get it, then what another 3-4 days at least to ship?

Have y'all ever had this problem with them?

When I lived in Korea I would occasionally have shipping issues with them but if you keep at them you should stay informed on when it finally gets shipped.

Its a great book and definitely worth reading. I'm currently having issues with the publisher. They said they would be sending me The Black Guard and so far it has been 6 weeks and it still hasn't shown up.

The Book Depository can be slow to ship, and if they're having stock issues then they can be a little problematic in that regard. I had a graphic novel on order and it kept getting pushed back, then it finally released but it spent about a week as 'Processing' before refunding me after saying they had stock issues.

Thanks Durzo and Loerwin, Yeah I told them I still wanted the book...plus it being a holiday weekend doesn't help I'm sure. Yeah I'm getting a little antsy about it.
