:D I just recived this from Amazon and I can't recommend it enough its a rebinding of several books and short storys about one of my all time favourite characters Kedrigern the wizard.

What makes Kedrigern so good I hear you ask? well everything these books are well writen light to comic fantasy with just a touch of the dark thrown in for spice. They are completely adult in nature (not xxx but who they are aimed at). They tell the story of the young wizard (He's only halfway through his second century) Kedrigern the Master of Counter spells and his courtship of his wife Princess and thier adventures toegether through a world populated by characters brought from every fairy story across the world.

Looking back on this I see I have been totaly unable to express my delight with these storys. At the time I stumbled over the first book A Voice For Princess (reprinted in this tradepaperback) it was the mid eighty's and I was drowning in a sea of fantasy books about young people most of them to stupid to live IMO find there power going of on a quest a using the magic thingamegig to slay the darklord what' his name. These books a completely different. Kedrigern know's who he is has a good Idea how the world works but still gets taken by surprise now and then, and does not suffer fools gladly. You just don't find characters like that in Fantasy I mean they are about but the story doesn,t focus on them Its great everyone should give it a go..

:D :D :D

I'm not sure if I missed this, but is it just a group of somewhat random books about a wizard, or is it a series? If so, what is the name of the series?

I am not quite sure what your question is the Kedrigern the wizard series are books writen by John Morressy about the adventures of the character Kedrigern the Wizard.

Novels
1.) A Voice For Princess (Out of Print)
2.) The Questing of Kedrigern (Out of Print)
3.) Kedrigern in Wonderland (Out of Print)
4.) Kedrigern and the Charming Couple (Out of Print)
5.) A Remembrance For Kedrigern (Out of Print)
6.) Kedrigern and the Dragon Come II Faut.(Out of Print)

The first two books and several short stories have been reprinted as the first chronicles of Kedrigern the Wizard and the rest will come in the next couple of books.

Has anybody else read these books maybe they can explain what they are all about more clearly than I can..
:( :(

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but I just discovered this author and I feel like a kid in a candy store (and the clerk is looking the other way while I stuff my pockets).

I've managed to find most of the Kedrigern novels at a reasonable price and will probably eventually pick up the chronicles, which I understand to be the novels interspersed with short stories.

So far I've only read the first novel, A Voice for Princess. I laughed out loud several times -- I hardly ever do that. Great stuff. And the artwork on the paperbacks is excellent -- Dean Morrissy did it.

this has peaked my interest, the only real way for me to get a hold of the novels in the UK are through amazon.co.uk used shipped from america, but i may give it go nonetheless.

im also concerned that the chronicles seem to have dried up, so im guessing all the book wont be reprinted then.

anyway thanks for ressurecting the thread :P, as im definitely intrigued.

grechzoo, I checked the Book Depository (they're in the UK) and they have a whole bunch of his titles. They ship for free too. Here's the link -- http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/search?searchTerm=john+morressy&search=search

I did some googling today and found a note on the Nightshade Books message board. Apparently a third volume of Kedrigern stories was in the works at about the time Morressy died, in 2006. Maybe it's just taking some time to settle things before this happens.

I read this wondering why the name of John Morressey seemed so familiar.

Then I realised - I have a series of his:

Ironbrand
Greymantle
Kingsbane

... which I rather liked at the time. Did a search on Wikipedia, and I understand there's a fourth volume, The Time of the Annihilator, which completely escaped me back then.

In any case, the Kedigern series looks like fun!

AuntiePam, when I check your link, I see no books offered by The Book Depository itself - just links to Abebooks. Am I missing something?

Phooey. No, I missed something -- the ABE links. Sorry about that! I haven't checked, but maybe some of the ABE sellers are in the UK.

I first discovered John Morressy back in the early 80's when I was in middle school and paid a visit to my public library. I picked up a copy of Starbrat and fell in love with it. I quickly became a fan. I was even more excited when I discovered he lived in the next town over. I was working in a grocery store during my high school years and he was a frequent shopper. I was honored to meet one of my favorite writers. I'm glad I had the opportunity to meet him before he passed away.
