Because 'Merica! (Well, in this case, sorry, but just saw a splendid fireworks show last night). Guess it's "Treason Day" from the Brits' point of view. Or "Meh" from our Canadian friends (who still owe me a good Moose sighting, damn it).

Anyways, July has already started. This could be the doldrums. This could be the breakthrough. Ah, the power in our hands, eh?

Me? Well, gonna plow on with my latest WIP. Being on the final draft is so exiting. Looking forward to rolling through at least a chapter or two...or maybe three. No conventions this month, but I do have to craft up some copper dragons and dragonflies for one coming up early August. I posted my short story 'Runaway' up on my website - details are in the Promotion forum. Onward!

My goal is to publish Ice Nazis by the end of the month. I"ve revised the first 320 pages or so, so those are pretty much ready to go, but there's still a fair amount of work required so it probably won't get done.
But the closer I get, the better.

I'm traveling for much of the month. There should be times when I can get some decent writing in, but a lot of it will be fragmented and unpredictable. That makes it difficult to plan a lot of specifics, but I'll still try:
  • Roots of Betrayal: get this revision pass through chapter 20. I think it's going well, so plan is still to get the manuscript to the publisher by the end of August.
  • Write at least one short story and plan another.
I have some other things I want to accomplish, but they're hard to articulate in goal bullet form, so I'll just go with those.

Oh my goodness!
It's July (sorry for the late start everyone, I blame Canada day and Independence Day)
How has the year been treating you?
What are your plans for the rest of the month?

I've been chugging away at the first couple of chapters of The Sword of Justice as I rewrite and overthink everything!
I also previewed an Ingram edition of a paperback that I wanted to have ready for August, I have to redo the whole thing. It's still available through Amazon, but I had to tweak formatting there too so now I'm waiting for the changes to go live. GAH!!!!

I just heard back from my editor. She wants to see an outline. So I'm changing gears from struggling with rewriting the story (that would be me jumping ahead), to figuring out what the original outline was of the story, vs what the new outline will be. Much simpler!

I got to work a bit on the outline and I getting into the groove of it, I'm almost 1/4 done of writing out what the current outline is, then I can go back, review it and then revise from there.

Why do we have two July threads? Are we attempting to be super motivated :D
I actually finished a review. A review! I feel like opening champagne it's been so long. Will settle for sparkly water
:D:D

Busy start to the month, very little of it writing related. But on the plus side, saw my grand-kids, so I'm not complaining. Now, back to it...

You do reviews? Then bless you and have some more of that bubbly. And yeah, there appears to be a bit of a misfire going on with the double postings but that happens.

Yeah, I'm slacking. Had to go to Edmonton for a few days, and didn't get any writing done there... but I'm just about ready to push through the last 30,000 words or so and get the novel finished.

I have 7.5 chapters per day to finish in order to make this deadline. I am going to have to really push myself but it is doable.

And then life stuff hit me in the face. I will not make that deadline. But I will reorganize some things and be a few days late.

I wasn't looking to blame anyone, I just thought it funny! - Also not sure if threads can be combined. It's not a power I am blessed with ;)

Yep. I review for SFFWorld ;) I find it hard to read at the same time as write things, though so it's an all or nothing unlike @Hobbit who has an endless feed of things :D

Wrote "The End" and actually meant it on Friday. The novel is in the drawer now until autumn. I ACTUALLY HIT MY SELF ASSIGNED GOAL! 10,000 words over target (not complaining) and a clear vision of the edits needs.
Where's my cake?

Focus is now on launching/promoting Distaff at Titancon/Worldcon and the novella that's been stewing away in the background.

Gah! That is my fault! I couldn't find this one!
(is there anyway to be able to merge them?)
Apologies for not noticing this.
Erm... I have the power... so 'tis done.

it's an all or nothing unlike @Hobbit who has an endless feed of things :D
Ha ha! Feed me! FEED ME!! (Except cake... cake is not always good for Hobbit, much as he likes it...) :D

Still chugging along. Looks like this book is probably going to be 180,000 words, not 160,000.

I am never going to write a book this long again. At least, not unless I've reached the point where I can quit work and write full-time.

I am a little over half way done writing the initial outline, the one based directly on the manuscript. Which I still then have to revise. I am getting a feel for how much work is going to have to go into this. Two words: a lot!

Chapter Eight of my WIP is out the door. Next convention's coming up in less than two weeks. Gonna be a good close for the month.
