Need an online "pb" seller for 10+ Heinleins titles cheap

I've tried searching this forum multiple times over two days without one search being completed. What's up that dat? :confused:

Anyway, can anyone please suggest a few paper back sites where I can pick up 10-15 specific Heinlein titles for a few bucks each?

Well the usual places would probably be ebay, which tends to sell bundles.

Abebooks can be very good for individual copies.

Amazon often have them in their second hand section. Again usually individual copies.

and, if worse comes to worse, some of us have used bookstores that we need excuses to visit.

I'd be happy to search the shelves locally.
 
Hobbit: Thanks for the linkage! I did check eBay, but of the lots currently offered, I found that I would only get 2-3 books that I'm actually looking for each 10-14 book lot. I also searched the 5 used pb stores in by area with little result. Sadly...SciFi gets little respect in this area. For example, at the stores locally, I was lucky to find one or two books for each of these authors; Asimov, Heinlein, Clarke or Dick. And of course the books I found wasn't one I was looking for.

Doesn't Amazon Marketplace charge $3-4 S&H for each book?

This maybe wishful thinking, but I'd love to be able to email my 10-15 Heinlein list to an online pb seller and get most of them at one strike for $1-3 each, plus shipping of course. Hey, if I could even get them all between two dealers, that be ok too.

Rim: I appreciate the offer. But I’ll try the links Hobbit provided. Who knows, I might just have to venture down to the big city (Atlanta). Hope my car doesn’t get booted! :rolleyes:

Hobbit: Thx! The Abebooks.com link was helpful. I especially like being able to search for authors and titles for a specific dealer. Found 7 of the 10 pb's I was looking for $4 each shipped. The only thing I was a little disappointed in was their condition. They only ranged from "Fair" to "Good" at that price.

Ahh....they'll probably be fine.

Looks like he's got most Heinleins in stock, F, VG, G & etc conditions; I've dealt with him for years and always got a good deal and, prices rarely go over $2.00 per book.

Rim: Since he does it all via "snailmail", by the time you mail in your order, does he normally have what you wanted?
 
yes, I've only gotten a refund a couple of times - and that was for magazines, not paperbacks.
 
Rim: Thanks for the tip! I ordered 9 Heinlein pb's from him and mailed my order out yesterday. I also listed a few alternates as he requested. What's the turnaround normally, a couple of weeks?
 
the time frame has varied from a quick 3 days to a couple of weeks - but I've never had to start thinking "gee, that order is taking an awful long time to get here".

I REALLY REALLY hate his snailmail, non-searchable database, no internet ordering, luddite, head-in-the-sand-of-technological-progress policy - but the guy has a truly unique collection, excellent prices, very accurate grading and is scrupulously honest.

For example: I ordered two copies of New Worlds from him (providing dates and issue numbers) because of stories I was searching for. Unfortunately for me, New Worlds had also published a US edition with the same dates; I got those in the mail. I immediately sent them back with a note explaining the problem, requesting substitutions or a refund and got a refund check for the total amount: he didn't even take out the shipping cost.

At other times I've gotten vol 1 num 1 mags that were in far better condition than described.

If I knew him personally, I'd volunteer to put his stuff on line.
 
*UPDATE*
Rim: Well...finally got the books in last week. He did send me 8 of the 9 I requested and the per book price was outstanding!

But...I did have to what over a month to get them. :(
 
Now all you've got to do is read them!

I've gotten books from him in as little as four days,. and as long as two months.

I don't remember if I mentioned that he processes orders in groups - sorry if I didn't. His site does explain time frames to some degree though.

But - the prices. I don't think they can be beat.

I think the best place to buy large lots of paperback books at cheaper P&H (relatively speaking) is via eBay sellers, you just have to be patient and hope for a lot to come up. And of course do not do business with anyone with feedback less than 97%, too much risk. Although I must admit that the 3 deals I have been cheated on (out of 500 or so) were people with near 100% ratings.
