Matt Dinniman Spotlight Moderated by Jim Zub. I reviewed the first book (Dungeon Crawler Carl) when Ace Books republished the series in hardcover and I loved it. I recently finished the fifth book, The Butcher’s Masquerade and will soon move onto the sixth book The Eye of the Bedlam Bride. This was a very conversational panel. I…

Thanks for this @Rob B! I really loved reading your recap of the panel. I love DCC!!! I think I'm a book ahead of you just now, with two more to read--including the newest book.

Thanks! Yeah, DCC is enormously fun and gets pretty deep. Need to get book #5. Trying to get to his signings (and there were many!) at NYCC was tough, a few were reserved and those spots went quickly. His publisher (Ace/Penguin Random House) had an in booth signing, but they required you to purchase the most recent and me being 3 books away from that, I was hesitant. I like to buy them as I read them. I was also frustrated that the publisher booth had only the first and most recent book in the series - NOTHING in between.

As I was leaving the show on Sunday (wearing my DCC shirt) I heard a voice, "Nice Shirt!" It was Dinniman with a stealth shout out, but the time I turned around, he was far along in the dense crowd.

LOL! Very cool, getting that shout out!

I hear you about buying books too far in advance of where you are in the series. That the publisher only had the latest book is both frustrating and understandable to me. I, too, want them to have a bunch of copies of every book. Yet, with a series as long as DCC is now, that means a thousand books. Where are they going to store all those, and in a nearby and easily accessible place during signings? I definitely feel your pain though! Especially with the required purchase. I'd rather just bring my dogeared copy of the first, or whatever, than a brand new copy I have no personal connection with. I never go to signings though and only recently started attending any cons at all, so I honestly know nothing about any of this, lol.
