To me, it seems that Adrian Tchaikovsky has been developing a reputation of late. He has in the last few years produced an enormous amount of genre material, year on year. Last year (2024) I think there were three alone. What impresses me even more is that these books are usually different from each other…

I'm reading it now, in fits and starts because I've other non genre books on the go as well.

The premise is interesting but I'm finding it difficult to engage with the characters....there was one earlier that was (a pet hate of mine in modern fiction) identified by pronouns, thankfully got killed so less annoyance.
 
Finished it ten minutes ago, it became a slog but I persevered - it wasn't too interesting in the closing chapters

Sorry to hear that, Danny! I liked the ending, which for me was a step beyond what usually happens in such stories. I thought the very last page was both optimistic and chilling!

Went to a book signing with Adrian last week, where he explained about the rationale of the aliens and his thoughts about what he wanted to do. There was also a beer given, which on the can had a QR code to a connected story!

I've started this as well - I find the author hit and miss but so far I'm liking it. A lot of anticipation around the aliens!
