i will check in with a proper review later but the audible performance that the actor/author Luke Arnold gives in his Reading of his debut novel is top level and it is the exception to the rule that most all authors (or their significant others) should never read their own stories... the amazon kindle version is just $1.99 and if you buy the audible at the same time it is also marked down to a bargain. Seriously and strongly recommended. Be sure to listen to the free sample of the reading before you decide if you want the little extra expense on your $2 this is a solid $8.90 paperback as far as I am concerned....

Glad to hear this! It was an Audible Daily Deal last week and only $2.95, so I snapped it up sight unseen. :)

Yes, I did read your always excellent reviews, Mark but I wanted to call it out for its excellence as an audible offering read by the author. He is the rare exception to the rule. His chops as a trained actor show in the nuanced way that the other characters are performed and in the solid "Hard-Boiled antihero gumshoe performance for the protagonist.

I have been scathing in the past for some rather dire attempts by authors to read their own words... and one case where the author's significant other perpetrated the crime

Based on my several experiences as a film extra back in the 70s and 80s there is a huge amount of sitting around on a film set as the sets are readied for another take or relit for another camera position; so Luke Arnold has plenty of time for writing in his main profession, which I hope means a regular output of books from him...
