Reading in December 2011

On a whim last night, I picked up my Kindle and started to read When Women Were Warriors 1: The Warrior's Path by Catherine M. Wilson.

I was up until 1:30am reading it and I got about 45% of the way through it. Wow.

And then I finished it off this morning.

Yay. Awesome, awesome, awesome book.

Last night I finished 11/22/63 by Stephen King. I absolutely loved and could not put down that book. A great way to end the year.

Finished Inheritance by Paolini. While I know, and can somewhat sympathize, that its not necessarily book/author du jour around here, this was the best of the four. The banter remains rather campy; there are large, extensive developments that lead nowhere; and Eragon is still a rather immature, impetuous teen attempting to play the eclectic sage.

All of that said, I don't know that I'd recommend it or call it great, but its like gorging oneself on Halloween candy - fun. Kind of the same thing I got from Eddings in the Belgariad & Elenium (i.e. the Mallorean and the Tamuli felt like unnecessary extensions of the first three books - didn't like).

Moving on to C.J. Cherryh, I'll be reading The Faded Sun trilogy. Can you guess which format that'll be in? Starts with an 'o.'

I keep thinking that I really need to reread these. I loved em to death when I was in high school, but that was a loooooooong time ago now.....
