I read this series first, then went back and read everything he has written.
In his early novels? The first book he published, "Malice"? It was the 1rst novel in The Faithful & the Fallen series. It had some faults. It took me longer than usual to get through it. But at the end, I could see a decent story building and decided to give the 2nd one a try. They all got better from there.
It's difficult sometimes to read an author at the peak of his craft and then go back to early works and get the same enjoyment. But the Faithful and the Fallen series followed by the Blood and Bone series are fine reads.
He is one of my current favorite fantasy authors.
