Another month.... and this month I have the rugged Aragorn to look at on the Hobbit calendar. :)

So, what Fantasy books have you been reading and what would you recommend with relish or discard with disdain this month? Tell all - with reasons!

Still reading Crossroads of Twilight, book 10 of the Wheel of Time.. slow going, as I'm on Elayne's chapters, which I find almost totally irrelevant to the plot and really tedious.. the rest of the book has been decent so far though.

Next I have a lot to choose from.. either the first book of Williams' Memory Sorrow and Thorn, the first book of Elliott's Crown of Stars, or a deeper forray into Erikson's Malazan Empire with the second book.. I'll keep you posted.;)
 
Deadhouse Gates is the best of those three so i'd go for that:D.

Hrm I finished off Kate Elliotts Jaran novels. Last book was a bit disappointing, hopefully she finishes of Crown of Stars better.

Ripped through Storm of Wings by Chris Bunch and i'm about to finish Kinghthood of the Dragon the second book in his Dragonmaster trilogy. Both great light reads.

Next up will be Midnight Tides by Erikson which just arrived today!:cool:
 
Still working my way through Alan Moore's Voice of the Fire with Legends the anthology edited by Robert Silverberg next up.
 
I finally took the time to finish stalking darkness by Lynn Flewelling, which was good once I dedicated time to it. Am half way throughWrapt in Crystal by Sharon Shinn. It is quite intriguing, as I can see the germination of ideas for Samaria in the plot. So far, so good. Am in a hurry to finish it as I have Snow Crash by Neal Stephenson and Blade of Tyshalle by Matthew Woodring Stover waiting for me...
 
I've put the waders on for another go at Perdido Street Station . Hoping I can get into it this time around !!
 
Finished my re-read of the entire WoT.

Just beginning to read King's 'Dark Tower' series. I've previously read only 'The Gunslinger', and I've got all the new editions right here in front of me.

Starting today.

After that I have a lot of scrap in my 'to read' pile.
 
I'll be reading Thief of Lives by Barb & JC Hendee this month. Dhampir was pretty cool, so I'll give the second installment a shot.
 
Im reading Grave Peril by Jim Butcher , I thoroughly enjoy this authors books and can recommend them to anyone :D

Just finished The Bone Doll's Twin by Lynn Flewelling, thought it was a great book despite being a bit jumbled at the beginning, 8/10.

Now reading White Apples by Jonathan Caroll.
 
Just finished reading On Stranger Tides by Tim Powers. It was a really good book. Now trying to find some more of his books.

I'm now in the middle of reading Caliban's Hour by Tad Williams. It's the first book I've read of his and so far it's been pretty good.
 
Just finished The Power that preserves by Stephen Donaldson. First was book was poor, second already a few steps up and slowly started to engage me in the characters and the third stepped up even more. In the end, a moving, if rather flawed book. The flaws are few, but consistent. Covenant got a lot more bearable in this third book though, and Saltheart is a treasure (though at times Donaldson overdoes the flowery dialogue with him). I'd give this book 7.5 out of 10 stars, which isn't bad at all since I rate LoTR 8.5 and that is one of my all-time favorites.

Hard to say if I would recommend the series though. Then again it doesn't seem relevant because everyone seems to pick up this series anyway, aroused by the continious buzz (especially with the Last Chronicles coming out). I don't think I'll read on for a while though, it's been a draining experience. Up next is either Lawhead's Pendragon cycle, Saramago's City of the Blind, a re-read of Erikson's Gardens of the Moon or King's The Gunslinger
 
it's an older one. I think it was between MS&T and Otherland. It was co-written with another author, can't think who though.
His new one - Shadowmarch will be released this year.
 
Still reading Deadhouse Gates by Steven Erikson. I'm going slow, to savour the flavor. But it's just as wonderful as everyone has said.

Finished the 4 first book in the Vlad Taltos series by Steven Brust. Hmm on the surface it reads like Simon R. Green without the endless self-indulging monologues. Quick reads, and the writing isn't too immature, which is hard to do match with an humorous tone. Quite satirical as well, despite the apparence. Recommended for all the Pratchett fans( it's much more conventional and less delirious though).

Next is Ilium by Simmons, Quicksilver by Stephenson and The River Into Darkness by Russell. Hopefully my new Erikson copy will have arrived by then.
 
Just finished Caliban's Hour. It was really good. It's about Caliban from Shakespeare's The Tempest and tells his life story. I'd recommend it.
 
I can always tell when I love a book by how quick I get it read :D . Grave Peril by Jim Butcher, a brilliant read.

I'll be starting The Glass Mountain by Jessica Rydill next :)

Thanx for the input...I am usually pretty good with keeping up with what the authors are writing, but this one must have slipped through!! If you could remember the other authors' name,I would appreciate it! thanx again!!;)
