Was I the only perso to enjoy the film despite the dodgy plot...?

i enjoyed the movie, one of the best based on a video game. they are making a second one already.

Really? I've only seen the screen shots of the games but I've watched the movie. An okay movie about zombies IMO considering zombie movies are passe in this day and age. Of course the ending of the movie I think fits the screen shots of the 2nd (or is that the 3rd) game.

Still the same cast?

Great. When I saw this thread I was expecting RE to get completely RIPPED APART:rolleyes:

It arrived this morning (the DVD that is) So I will watch it tonight with an open mind.

I liked it, it had a lot of the feel from the games.

Much better than Tombraider.

I enjoyed the movie very much, too. And I am going to buy the DVD, that's for sure.

Yep, much better than the Tomb Raider movie!

DVD is due out in the States on the 30th of July, if it is reasonably priced, I may buy it, esp. if it has audio commentary by the filmakers and or actors.

Finally saw it...had some bright spots..Milla was good..the rest of the cast was forgettable..esp Michelle Rodriguez..soooo annoying.....!!! The game was better than the flick..the game had more atmoshpehere and better music..enough with the hard-grunge-whatever soundtracks...ending was pretty decent..hope the sequel has more zombies..!!!!!!

Wasn't as scary or fun as the game, which still leaves plenty of room for it to be a good movie, which I thought it was.

Thought the big monster went down too easy at the end though, considering the source material. Story-wise I thought they started with a dash of part 1, which quickly leapt into part 2 (sans Mr. X, though, unfortunately).

Pretty forgetable movie. I think I liked it but I can't remember.

It aint gonna win any Oscars, but for a video game movie...yeah, it was ok. I was suprised. I thought it would be totally lame, but it was fairly enjoyable.

And Mila Jovovich or whatever her name is is a totaly honey!!!:D

First movie in a LONG time that at some points actually made me jump. I love that. the film does its job when it gets you thinking "I'm glad I'm sitting in this nice comfy chair..."

I liked how they kept it in the style of the games(right down to the mansion and the lab underneath) and kept it open in the style of the games. I get the impression this is supposed to be before the first game ever happened(you notice that it's only at the end when Milla escaps the lab that she comes out and finds the city wrecked). I'm optimistic.

I wanna play Barry.

I thought it was okay, but I REALLY liked the ending. :D I've never played the game before though, something I should do...

I am a big fan of the games having played Res Evil 1, 2 & 3 and was looking forward to the film, big time.
I passed it up at the cinema after seeing the trailer where Milla Jovovich did a Jackie Chan "off-the-wall" kick on a zombie dobermann, and Michelle Rodriguez spent her time on screen pouting and trying to look and talk tough... it really put me off.
I've got nothing against tough chicks on screen, in fact I love 'em, but they need to make me believe in them.
For example, Jenette Goldstien (played Vasquez in Aliens) was totally believable as a tough chick. Even Siggy Weaver herself is was good as (the now somewhat immortal) Ripley, but the Res Evil girls didn't do it for me in the trailer, and a trailer is designed to entice me to watch the film, not the opposite.
On the tough chick note... Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft.... what the hell were they thinking! Claudia Black (Farscape & Pitch Black) would have been a far better choice.
Also when I heard that George A Romero had been replaced by the director of "Mortal Kombat" (and what a pile of bovine feculence that was) for Res Evil, I completely lost all interest.
I'll hire it when it comes on rental out of curiosity and love for the of the games.

OK I've just finished watching this movie , having only just been released here in Aus , and I've got to say it worked for me !
Plenty of tension and just makes it over the line with the splatter . I thought that Milla was great but couldn't get over how stupid the rest of the characters were , maybe it was the acting I'm not sure .

kahnovitch , I agree with you on Michelle Rodriguez .
The zombie dogs were definately cool . :)

The reviews said it sucked, and all the 'end-of-year' film-mag reviews said it sucked.

Yet, I enjoyed it.

Am I alone...?

Ditto.

Agreed. There is something sexy about her, but she sucked in Fast n Furious, that Ja Rule video, and in RE. Eye-candy at the best.

On the tough chick note... Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft....

Didn't like the film much. Don't think she's much of an actress either.

She was crap in FnFurious.
