That was a very tough, powerful episode of your autobiography-in-progress, Matthew. Some of my father's more distant relatives are/were unpleasantly fucked up (Catholics of a certain kind), but this is evil indeed.

I made sure my children never had any exposure to that side of my family. Stopped the poison from spreading.

Over the last 24 hours, my 2016 novel, A Wizard's Henchman, has attracted five-star reviews from two highly knowledgeable sources. I thought that was worth crowing about.

Stephen Theaker, administrator of the British Fantasy Awards, says, "A brilliant book, probably my favourite new book of 2016."

Full review.

And sf novelist David Gullen says, "If you enjoy the works of the great Jack Vance (and I do), then there is a very good chance you will like this book a lot. Hughes writes a very close pastiche of Vance’s mannered, witty and slightly baroque style. His humour is dry, his observations mordant."

Full review.

That Vance comparison caught my attention - I'm not the biggest fan of him myself but I know others who are. Potential Christmas gift in the offing.

In the mean time, I have my own offering to the blogosphere:

An interview with Anna Stephens

Matthew, the link is broken. There are a couple of characters at the front that shouldn't be there.

Funny, I thought it worked when I tested it. I've reset the link, which ought to be https://www.patreon.com/user?u=4687520

It's a little less than 48 hours since I announced my Patreon page on Facebook, Twitter, and other venues, and I've attracted 21 patrons who have pledged $130 (less the fees Patreon and Paypal charge).

That's a very heartening beginning.

My thanks to all the Heroes of the Archonate (and one Friend of Filidor) who have pledged.
