Shields down

[TheSeveredWorldNovels]

I don't know where to say this. I suspect it's already been said.

The advertising on this site is very inobtrusive. I turned the ad blocker off for it and the experience is basically the same except I might see something I'm interested in buying and they get to make a little money.

I know I'm new, but it's an easy, low-friction way to support the site.

I think that's a compliment!

And if so, thank you.

If it helps, the short version of a long story is that we are very loathe to have advertising - we hate it ourselves (and there are sites out there that have put us off them because of it.) So it is a reluctant yet accepted minimum; the profits (what profits?) are used to pay for the maintenance of the site and not biscuits for the staff... more seriously, I don't know whether we always cover the bills, (the owner covers that) but I think we get by.

So, again: thank you for noticing!

You can take it as a compliment. It was based on a positive opinion of the site. But the intent was not flattery.

It was to see if I could get other people to remember to push "shields down" (or whatever) and increase support of the site at no cost to themselves, save for a few inobtrusive banner ad placements.

I don't like advertising either, but I've noticed that the economy has been gradually and meticulously retooled so that things like organic word of mouth are increasingly difficult to build. So it's kind of a necessary evil, these days.
