Sterling Lanier 'Hiero' series

Although the second book in this series clearly leads to a sequel (even moreso than the first book) I have been unable to find anything.

Does anyone know whether any such book was written? I believe that the author is still alive or, at least, had many years to have written a third book.

Now there's a name I've not heard in a while, Bob.

According to Wikipedia, he died in 2007, sadly.

No sign of a third book there, that I can see.

I am sure I read both of them. I remember the cover from the second but not the story. I recall some of the first. No third book I ever encountered.
