The wonderful books by D.M. Cornish will be released with some stunning new covers....The name of the trilogy (Monster Blood Tattoo) is also different: The Foundling's Tale....

Here is the first one:

By the way...the third book in this series will not be released in may, but september 2010....
Ah well, we are all used by a little delay concerning our favorite books, right? ;)

I've started reading the first one. I laid it to the side for some time now, I should probably finish it.

You should...:) And the second book is even better than the first, delving deeper into the world and the characters, introducing some memorable new characters as well...I'm normally not a big fan of YA, but this is truly excellent stuff....

p.s. Some people were put off by the name of the lead-character, but there is a reason for the girlish sounding name Rossamund and it will all become clear in book 2 (and the forthcoming third book)...

Highly recommended...:D

I have added this trilogy to my list, thanks for the heads up. I do agree on the covers, they look fantastic.

Stunning covers, very nice indeed. I've not really liked what I've read in sample chapters though. I'm just not cut out for YA I guess.

Hey Mith, I don't know what you usually like or do not like in your reading, it may of course be that this is not to your taste, but I struggled a bit in the beginning as well: a tale about an orphan-boy with a strange girlish-sounding name that was labelled YA (which I don't read much as well), it was a gamble on my part to start the book with so many (good) books waiting to be read already.
But I read some reviews and after some chapters the mood of the book, the world that was enfolding and the likeable lead-character pulled me in...But it was especially the fabulous second book that made me a big fan. In short, I liked it very much and I think I can call myself a pretty seasoned reader in the genre (not YA ;))...
I can only recommend it, nobody should read books they don't like, but perhaps you should read some more before you give up on this series...If it is not for you, that is always possible, but I think you will be pleasantly surprised if you persevere...It gets better and better IMHO...:D

This will mark at least the third time the series has been re-releasted/rebranded.

I thought it was the second rebranding/rerelease, this one for the American Market ...but then, I may be wrong
Have you read the books Rob?

The Monster Blood Tattoo-books are wonderful :D
Lamplighter is one of my favourite books period...
Fantastic worldbuilding and many characters to root for, or to hate ;)

Cannot recommend this series enough, and don't be misled by the YA label, these books can be read and enjoyed by Y and A alike (And I should know since I'm in my thirties myself )...

Give it a try...

Hey, Rob, you're right... so three times it is :)
Read your review while I was at it and agree with most of it (the names were not so difficult for me since many seem to have been taken from my own language (dutch), with slight alterations of course...
The second book is storywise a huge improvement in my opinion (not that the first was bad, just smaller in scope) and takes the series to a higher level...
New characters are introduced and the Lamplighters-headquarters is an interesting and massive building with lots of secrets hidden inside and underneath, and not all characters make it out alive this one, so there are some surprises as well...
I'm not much of a YA reader, but this series (that I discovered by reading two interesting blogs, blogs that I discovered through SFFWorld; yes it is a small world :D) have pleasantly surprised me and I'm eagerly awaiting the conclusion in september, book three Factotum.
