The Wind on Fire Trilogy by William Nicholson

Has anyone read this fantasy trilogy (The Wind Singer/Slaves of the Mastery/Firesong) that I saw in the young adult section of the bookshop? Is is it worth checking out?

Yeah I thought it was very good, but they are definatly childrens books. You could try them, the first one is good but a bit more for children than the other two. The last two in the series are definatly better than the first, and more grown up. The story is very different from the first as well, it is the same people but 5 years in the future.

They are probably sort of the same genre as His Dark Materials by Phillip Pullman- if you haven't read them and you enjoy the Wind on Fire, you will love HDM.

TWoF are better than Harry Potter too I think.

I, too recently saw the first book in this trilogy and was wondering about it. I noticed that the book is about 200-300 pages long but there are about 20 words per page!

Yes its very easy reading, probably finishable within a day. I'm not sure if I would re-read them either, but I hardly ever re-read books, unless they are brilliant.
