TV Series or Show You're Watching

I watched the final episode of Lost today.

I never thought I could get so attached to a TV show but after c.120 episodes I am really going to miss those crazy-half-dead-are-they-dead-or-alive-or-from-the-future-past-or-some-alternative-reality guys. I'm already looking for something to replace it but have realised there's nothing that will really be able to fill that hole. I don't mind admitting I'm going through a bit of a tough time at the moment (call it a mid-life crisis maybe) and watching an episode of Lost every day has been like medicine.

It took me half the first season to really get into it but from then on I loved every single episode, even the not-so-good ones from Season 6 with the dodgy sets and silly hair styles, and the "controversial" ending was just fine by me. Favourite character overall? - I could say Jack, Sayeed, Hurley, Jin or maybe even Ben, but in the end I think I always got the biggest kick when Kate was on screen (and she was the only character I knew of before I watched the show) so I would have to say her.

Here's to when I feel like enough time has passed so I can watch it all again!

Can't remember if you've seen it, Ropie, but as a follow-on series, if you can get it, I would suggest Fringe. It gets better as it goes on, IMO. I often found one bad/not as good episode in each season, but generally it was an unstoppable watch.

Thanks, Mark. I haven't seen it. I tried the first episode and it seems a lot like the X Files but much more graphic! It does have something of that Lost vibe due to the creators being the same, and it's available for free on ITVX so I'll definitely keep going with it for a while :) Also stars the guy who played one of Charles Widmore's main henchmen in Lost (and Sylenz from the excellent Horizon: Zero Dawn & Horizon: Forbidden West games!)

If I remember right, Ropie, like the XFiles, Fringe was a little bit "monster of the week" to start with in the 1st season, but then it gets really interesting afterwards. The end of the first season is great. :)

Didn't know it was on ITVX though - will point out to others in the family who have wanted to watch it. Thanks for that!

Common Side Effects is so good! I can't wait for season two! I usually struggle to connect with animated shows but this one had me hooked from the start. Interesting themes, funny, tense, action-packed, and I thought the animation was well done.

Summary: Two former high school lab partners stumble on a mushroom that can heal almost anything, apart from the corporate interests of the DEA, big pharma, and international businessmen.

Edit:
It's an [adult swim] show but I watched it on Max.

MobLand (2025). Enjoying this one quite a lot.

First two episodes of Murderbot dropped. Very well done! Alexander Skarsgard is excellent as Murderbot.

The only bummer is they are like 24 minute episodes. Not a lot of content. I guess we are probably only getting book 1 in season 1. Recall the books are very short.

There is a new "season" of Love, Death & Robots is out. Its a decent way to pass an hour and a half, but there certainly isn't any compelling reason to pick LD&R. The first "episode" is totally pointless unless your a big Red Hot Chill Peppers fan, which sort of poisoned my view of some of the other semi-pointless episodes. I definitely did like a few of them, but by IMDB rating, its the weakest season.

Started watching season 1 of Genuis about the life of Albert Einstein.

Also have been watching a few old shows from the 70s: The Rockford Files and The Bob Newhart Show. In the case of Newhart, this is my first time seeing his original show (for the most part). I didn’t have cable growing up so missed most of the programs that aired on CBS because we could only tune in ABC and NBC. My how times have changed.

OMG! Episode 8!!!

Terrific telly. Best thing Star Wars has done in AGES.....
